Included wines.

Recommended Posts

It definitely depends on your taste.  We found several of the included wines to be very enjoyable on Journey the last few time we were aboard.

Just disembarked Journey after 26 days.  Could always find an easily "drinkable" choice.

I was on the Pursuit in June and have bought the upgrade for the drinks and the wine. Glad I did because the wines you can choose are a lot better (for my taste).

I was on Pursuit in June and again in July, and suspected I'd signed on, involuntarily, for an intervention😲.  I had the included wines and they were not to my taste.

Hoping that Journey's included wine selections for January are as good as posters are saying ...

We were on the Quest in September and found the included wines had declined in quality, especially the white, since our last cruise the previous year.   And we’re not that fussy.

Does buying the drinks package give you a better choice of wine at dinner?

The Ultimate package gives you additional wine by the glass, but the Premium package doesn’t. There are also wine packages you can buy for wine by the bottle.

I would also suggest the Ultimate package if you are picky about wines.   It’s about $21 a day and includes better wine by the glass.    They also offer deals on this package after you board so it could be much less expensive.   When you order mixed drinks you will still get the regular brand unless you request a better brand.   Guess they will always use the default unless directed.

Any examples of such deals, and the cost?

To each his/her own. We find the wine selection really lacking at the AZ price point and it’s one of the reasons we are looking at other lines.  On our cruise on Journey in July, we were challenged to find whites especially that we liked. Even the ones we purchased were not very good and the overall selection for purchase onboard extremely limited, so in our opinion even getting any of the beverage packages doesn’t address the issue.  One of the included chardonnays, Dark Horse, retails in our area for 6.99 a bottle.  Surely AZ can do better than that!  Our biggest disappointment as we love AZ for other reasons.

I have to agree, the wine offerings have gone downhill in recent times.

We were on the Journey in August, and after trying the included wines on Day 1 we switched to the ultimate package for the remainder of the cruise.  This allowed our butler to upgrade the alcohol in our cabin, as well.  Get friendly with the sommeliers in the various restaurants.  Once they know what you like, and you have the ultimate package, you can usually get a wine that you will like.  Once you find such a wine, they will bring it to you subsequent nights.

I have been looking for what is actually available without buying a package.   Thank you for this . I can not find it anywhere.

Just to let you know that there was at least one change to this on the Journey in July. The included (C) Scotch Whisky was The Famous Grouse, not Cutty Sark.

Its also worth saying that speciality coffees are included (capuchino, espresso, flat white etc) from the Mosaic coffee bar. Still & sparkling water are included and there are two white and two red wines plus a rose and a sparkling wine included. The rose and sparkling are the same every day, but the white & red change every day. If you drink one you really like, you can ask your waiter if he can find you some of that on another day - they usually manage to do so.

Than you very much for that.

I don’t remember if I’ve seen this mentioned elsewhere...

We have the Premium beverage package included in an already purchased “Enjoyment” Experience More package. We have too much OBC already on this cruise:

1. Can we use some to upgrade to the Ultimate beverage package?
2. Could it be for just one of us? Or must it be for both?
3. What would be the daily rate to do this beverage package upgrade onboard?

Thanks!

The nice thing on Azamara is you can do it for one.
My wife is not a real wine lover (I don't call it good wines because also the upgrade wines are for me not the super wines but much better then the included ones) and a simple cocktail is oke for her. So I did the upgrade for the wine, the draught Heineken en nice spirit with the coffee after dinner and it was no problem at al.

I do hope you don't think you get everything listed without buying some sort of upgrade.
