Booking an Oceanview cabin on this transatlantic cruise. Some cabins are located on the Main Deck right below the Lower Promenade deck which has a lot of activity. Does the lower promenade activity disturb the cabins below it? We are light sleepers. Also, if we decide to go with a Balcony/Verandah cabin, are there any problems with smoking, vaping, or any other substance next door? I know that smoking is not allowed with exception of smoking areas. But, you know how people can be. Just need to know how well it is enforced on this ship?

Thank you in advance for info provided. 🛳️

We had balconies on the Koningsdam and were never bothered by any smoke smell whatsoever.  However, the casino was another story, very smoky.

I agree, get the balcony, book a cabin that has cabins above and below you, away from elevators, this location will help light sleepers.

Enjoy the Nieuw Statendam, we loved her sister ship, the Koningsdam.

Also a light sleeper here. We just started travelling with a petite white noise machine and have to admit, I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. We found a good fan like noise on ours that blends in well and I am out like a light and don't wake up with every toilet flush or sound in the hall. Best sleep not in my own bed I have had ever. My dh said we are taking it with us from now on. I would have never thought such a little thing could be so helpful.

I was recently on NS on deck 2 directly under the Queens Lounge/BB Kings Blues Club.  The noise was terrible.  The room vibrated from the bass from 8:00pm until about 1:00am (the Blues Club turns into the Disco around 11:30pm).  From now on, I will be avoiding deck 2!
