First Premier Cruise Offer - Questions on Fares

I've searched and can't find any answers so hoping all you Premier cruisers can help. I just received my first Premier cruise offer yesterday, was so excited because we certainly don't gamble that much. The offer was for DOU for you and companion, $50 fun play for you and companion, the other party, in room gifts, etc. when checking the different cruises that were available, I found the fares to be ridiculously higher than just regular Casino rate, at least $150+ per person! The rates on my offer started from $348 interior pp. my friend who gets premier offers all the time never has rates this high, hers are usually starting around $100 pp interior. I'm guessing my rates are so high because this is my first?

I too received my first offer. I will admit I was excited as the list of benefits seemed impressive. However as you mentioned when pricing the cruise it would cost me at least $250 more to book with this rate vs the cheapest rate while comparing exact cabins. I get that for some the benefits may be worth the extra money but I was expecting a better deal on the cabin cost or at the very least for the price to be the same. I was surprised to see that it actually costs more with the premier rate. Essentially that means I’d be paying for the benefits! If there was a savings or even a break even point I’d consider booking one but I don’t want to pay more and feel like I have to spend my cruise in the casino to get free drinks and value from the offer. I’d definitely  play more in the casino if the price for the cabin was the same.

Yeah we noticed that as well and we've been getting these offers for about 4 years now. We generally book under one of the other casino deals we get as the rates are much better. We've been on 2 Premier sailings and although they were fun and we loved the extras, the casino was super crowded and extra smokey, plus we did spend much of the cruise in there as to not miss any of the drawings and special games. which kind of sucked for me (hubby is the gambler, I just play when I feel like it).

I don't think it has anything to do with being your first offer, it depends on how many points you racked up while in the casino. I receive numerous offers and they all vary.

Priority embarkation, if you don't already have it.

You get free drinks and nibbles at the Welcome Aboard party...They tell you about all the events planned for the week.

Drinks while playing - they tell you one every 5 - 15 minutes, but good luck with that.  There is no set "zone" for the servers, and you usually won't see one forever, then once you order, at least 4 stop by...but you can't order again.  Keep some $1's handy for tipping, if you are there awhile, they come by more often.

The invitation only slot tournament is usually on last sea day, you have to have at least  2000pts earned to play.

Usually cookies are sent to room.

A gift from the casino - usually a beach towel or blanket.

Priority disembarkation, if you don't already have it.

 

The different drawings are a pain in the a$$...you have to be present to win, and they usually have them when you want to be elsewhere.

 

We used to enjoy them, but lately, the offers are not much of a savings, and it has become a chore to gamble.

Not too sure they go by points either, the November cruise, neither one of us got over 350 points, and usually just get over 500 to get the first "free" $5. Maybe it's because the last couple of years we've been on a bunch of cruises, who knows! What really gets me now is that either of us hardly drink anymore!

Not trying to be snarky, but you got a lowball offer because your normal play is just 350-500 points per cruise.  Normally you're just barely on their radar at with enough points during the cruise to earn a DOU card (1,000 to 1,500 points, depending on cruise length).

Lol, you're probably right. I think they're trying to get more people to play with these offers. Still, I was tickled to get it, but certainly won't be doing it because of the extra cost. An additional couple hundred added to the cost of a balcony room pays for most of the "free" stuff in my opinion. I don't think anyone knows the rhyme or reasons of the Players Club!
