Earliest Departure Houston IAH???

We are looking at possibly booking the Carnival Vista in February. The itinerary says the ship is scheduled to arrive back to Galveston by 8:00 a.m.

What is the earliest to reasonably book a flight out of Houston's IAH airport? Would 12:15 p.m. be too early if we carry bags off ourselves?

Thanks for any input or previous experience.

You could make that. It would be based on the following:

  • ship arrives on time
  • priority self-debark
  • passport to breeze through US Customs
  • ride ready to go like Uber or cab as the car rental return at IAH is off-site and slow
  • waiting for a Carnival bus to fill won't work
  • weekend mornings the freeways are wide open in February
  • curbside check for luggage at IAH
  • TSA Pre-Check to get through security

I don't want to sound crass, I live 30 miles from the port and commute to Galveston at least three times a week for my career and personal life with few traffic problems. The commute time would have your there by 10:30 AM without any of the above going wrong. if one of those doesn't happen you'd need to re-book your flight.
