Snorkel trip advice needed for Aitutaki and Rarotonga

Recommended Posts

My friend and I will be going back to Tahiti next year and need to get information on good snorkel trips in Aitutaki and Rarotonga.  Any advice would be most helpful on which to do and not do as well.  Thanks in advance.

The best snorkeling on Aitutaki will be the 'shelf' close to Honeymoon Motu/Island. Takes an excursion to get there, most of the vendors do go here with the exception of the Vaka Cruise. Stick with name companies like TeKing and Bishops. From land the best snorkeling will be at the end of the old short runway, the north end.

On Rarotonga some of the best snorkeling will be the Marine Reserve just in front of 'Fruits of Rarotonga' on the south side of the island. You need to go swim out a ways toward the reef. When you get to the 'Fruits of Rarotonga' look out toward the reef, you will likely see others way out there including some excursion vendor boats (look a picture #3, you will see them). You can grab a sandwich and enjoy it in the shade cover.
