Airport Hotel VS Port of Miami Hotel

Recommended Posts

We are to fly into Miami the day before our cruise this February.  We have gone through a travel agent and they have us booked at a hotel near the airport for our overnight stay.  It is the Pullman Miami Airport Hotel.

Getting to the cruise terminal will not be an issue for us because we will have most of the next day to get there.

However, we'd like to have a little fun time that night while we are in Miami (maybe go to a good Cuban restaurant).

Knowing all of this, are we going to be fine with the airport hotel location.  Or would we be better off calling our agent and arranging for one closer to the port.

Also.....do most hotels provide a shuttle service to the port area?

No, most hotels do not provide free shuttles to POM but some offer this Service for a fee.

What time does your flight arrive into MIA? In general I would only choose an airport hotel if I was flying in late and just wanted a place to sleep.  If you are arriving earlier in the day and want to see something of Miami choose a downtown hotel.  Hampton Inn Mary Brickell area is very close to lots of local dining and shopping options. Search this board for other options, including some hotels that offer some rooms with a view of the port - a great view to wake up to! 😎

Can you not just book a hotel yourself??

I agree I would book downtown if you want  to see some nightlife

Hampton Inn Brickell or Holiday INN

Lots of option options close to the port & restaurants  etc..

You can get a shuttle for a small fee or UBER/TAXI  to the port   from many downtown locations for under $20

In the end you will be much happier with a hotel in the downtown area. Mary Brickell, downtown both have restaurants and shopping. A quick Uber ride and you can enjoy the Miami Beach nightlife. The only place we stay is downtown.
