BirdTravels on the Inaugural Voyage of the Encore to the Eastern Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Join the Bird on the inaugural voyage of the brand new Norwegian Encore to the Eastern Caribbean! With a guest capacity of 3,998, nearly 1100 feet long, 160 feet wide and weighing in at nearly 170,000 GT, the Encore is NCL’s newest ship at sea and the last of the Breakaway-Plus class ships.

The Encore was delivered to NCL on October 30, 2019 and christened by Grammy Award-winning godmother Kelly Clarkson on Thursday, November 21, 2019 bringing the best of luck to the ship and all of us who sail on her. After several press/media and travel agent preview cruises, and a transatlantic repositioning, this is the Encore’s inaugural voyage after being christened. Come along with the Bird for the ride!

Bon Voyage!

Will be following in your footsteps end of January so can't wait to hear your (always great) insights!

Especially interested in your specialty restaurant experiences, if any.  I was on Dawn in Sept. before they (re) imposed the surcharge on various items.  Any plans for Onda?

Also your take on the "reassembled" deck space.  We don't plan to buy Vibe passes but given we've done the itinerary so many times may use the deck/pool space while others are off the ship.

Hope you enjoy "Kinky Boots."  Saw it on Broadway and loved the show.

Would love to hear your impressions of the Cavern Club and the band.  For the TA, Guns n Rojas was the band in there most of the time.  How about in "Q"?

Thanks in advance and have a wonderful cruise!

In the first photo the ENCORE must be number 5 in line of the ships at pier ?

A telephoto image distorts (condenses) the hugeness of this massive vessel.

Hope to see more real time life images of this ship.

BirdTravels - bon voyage enjoy your cruise - always the best !

Not much interest in the open deck. Lots of unused sunshine

Always enjoy your posts, especially the live at sea reviews. Enjoy- we’re watching you sail away on PTZ!

Delayed another 15 min

Right after muster, a Code Alpha (medical emergency) was called in a passenger room. Fire Dept onboard. Ambulance on dock. Hope the ill guest is doing o.k.

Lots of sorting going on at the terminal. Need to get on the right line or you’ll never get on the ship. BTW the terminal letter on our edocs (downloaded a few days ago) was wrong.

I am interested in how the Waterfront is affected by the reduced open deck space up top. I love the peace and lack of crowds on the 2 Waterfronts I have experienced. I am hoping that it doesn't become a sea of towels too!

On this ship!  We are moving!

When we arrived at the port we were directed by deck number: odd number deck cabins go on terminal B and even deck cabins use terminal C.

The Social. There is a line for the Vibe where they were handing out numbers. And a line for show reservations.

If you paid for Priority, there was a nicer seating area (with only a couple of people there)

When are the shows?  As soon as you embark, head to The Social and get your shows and go karts booked. Then head across the hall to Teppanyaki to change/book dinner reservations.

Canvas by U allows you to become an artist in an hour. Bring a glass of wine and your creativity. Sign up in The Social on embarkation day. $35 per session. They fill up fast so sign up early. These are all new pieces not seen on other ships.
