chewy Posted April 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Quick question... I know in the dining room it's all you can eat...you want 2 appetizers, you get too appetizers, 2 entrees, etc... Does the same rule apply in the Golden Fleece? What if I want the Filet AND the Lobster Tail? Or what if I want Shrimp Cocktail and the Lobster Bisque??? Not trying to be a pig (ok maybe kinda) but I just want to know what to expect... Thanks in advance!
steveNcindy Posted April 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Chewy - they do have surf and turf there. You do not get to order 2 entrees though (I tried ). Make sure you have the lobster bisque also - very good. nosnobunny Posted April 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2004 That was probably one of the best meals I've ever had. Believe me when I say you won't need more than one dish per course. I had the New England lobster. There were two very large tails on my plate and it just melted in my mouth. For dessert, I ordered the creme brule. You can imagine my surprize when I received three different versions. Yummmmm! Beth
F5Loar Posted April 22, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2004 You have to cough up another $25 to eat a 2nd meat. But if you get the 24 oz. porterhouse do you really need a 2nd meat? All the other stuff you can order 2 of so you won't go away hungry for your $25. CruiseFever Posted April 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I wish Not for the entree's but for the desserts. Last time we were there they had a trio of creme brulee that was fabulous but really really small portions If you could eat more than they give you on the entree's I think they should let you have another one just because I would imagine that does not happen very often and they could take bets on whether you could finish #2 or not That could be fun, all the other diners surrounding you throwing money down on your table in their formal wear but it would probably distract from the ambience they wish to create there and there would probably be some sappy honeymoon couple that would complain and want a free cruise because you ruined their magic moment Happy Cruising Chris www.LifeIsCruising.com Next up: Caribbean Princess 06/26/04 Star Princess 10/24/04 Carnival Victory 12/19/04 Carnival Miracle 03/13/
parafire Posted April 22, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I know that I have eaten my weight in lobsters in my lifetime and I found that the lobster prepared by the Golden Fleece was one of the best that I have ever had. The whole meal was excellent.
partman57 Posted April 22, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2004 I had the 12 oz steak and I could not eat it all. If you got the 24 and eat it and want more then I do not want to invite you over for dinner. lol. Really great food. you will love it. 10/28 Legend
jerrymac Posted April 22, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2004 On the legend Golden Fleece, is lobster and porterhouse available every night or just on formal night? Is the attire formal every night that you eat in the Golden Fleece? We are considering the legend! just got back from the Victory. 4/4 Victory cruise
parafire Posted April 22, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2004 A jacket is suggested but not required. The menu is the same every night.
hstrybuf Posted April 22, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Sorry to disagree with you parafire, but I just got home from the Legend yesterday and this is what the Supper Club confirmation which was delivered to our cabin says: Dress code is Smart Casual - Jackets are required. In the Capers it does not mention jackets and they did not enforce it. I saw several men come in without jackets and some even had their shirt tails hanging out. They definitely give you plenty of food for the money. My DH has a large appetite and he was full before we ever got to the creme brulee! Huey Posted April 23, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2004 We just returned from the Legend. The Golden Fleece is definately worth the $25/per person. I ordered the surf and turf - the turf was an incredibly small filet (it was just enough for me, but I'm sure some would find it too little). My husband ordered the 24 oz. Porterhouse - it was humungous. The flourless chocolate cake was a must. The presentation and food was wonderful. The Lobster Bisque was yummy. We had 6pm reservations - it was a little too early. The band didn't start until 7:00pm, but the service was great because they weren't busy. The caper does state jackets are required, although, there were 2 nights that it stated casual (I think they were the nights we were coming back from Barbados and St. Marteen). parafire Posted April 23, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 23, 2004 As we all know what a cruise company prints as guidelines (rules) and what actually takes place are often not the same. My information was a result of a face to face conservation with the Maitre'd of the Golden Fleece. It was my observation that just about any reasonable dress was welcome in order to fill tables. stanh Posted April 23, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 23, 2004 What hours are the supper clubs open? Can you make your reservation for anytime you choose while it is open (say 7:45 for example) or do they have set reversation times, like only on the hour (6:00, 7:00, 8:00)? Thanks. MARYSEAS Posted April 23, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 23, 2004 We sailed on the Legend last year and went to the Golden Fleece. I still think about that meal...You really must go.....It was so-o-o-o-o good! I ordered the 24 oz delmonico...I was all dressed up in my formal gown....I weigh 115 pounds and ate that whole steak! In fact, if I were home..I would have picked up that bone and gnawed on it..By far...the best steak I've ever had..I'd pay $50 to have that right now!
