Free at sea/drinks package question

Hi all

We're looking to book a European cruise for next June and (fingers crossed) I'll be pregnant so my hubby would like the drinks package however I won't need it (happy to drink the included drinks). Can you tell me whether it's possible for one person to book the drinks package and say one book the shore excursions or internet with the free at sea? Or we could both chose different free at sea options (such as specialist dining and shore excursions) then pay for a drink package just for hubby (if allowed) but would the cot be $99 per day? That would be incredibly expensive so might be easier to just book via the free at sea.

Thanks.

Becky

Also, if you buy the drink package then everyone in the cabin has to buy it - so you'd have to pay the $99/day for yourself.

Assuming you won't drink any soda or virgin drinks at all - you'd have to take the apox $280 you'd be charged for the free perk and decide if your husband would drink more than that ala carte. Unless he's drinking beer, that's at least $10 a drink plus 20% - or he'd have to drink more than 3 drinks a day to break even.

You may be better off just picking the sailaway rate (no perks), and have your husband pay per drink.  His cost for the drink package would be $99 per day, plus 20% gratuity, so it would be around $120 per day, but I believe you both may have to buy it.

If he drinks a lot, you may be better off choosing the drink package as a perk, and then you can get virgin drinks (without alcohol) and soda.  Remember you will still be paying the gratuities of $40 a day ($20x2) even if you get the drink package as your perk.  It will completely depend on how much he drinks for you to decide the best way to go..

Thanks for the replies. I'm shocked they won't allow it even for pregnancy. Never mind I guess I'll just enjoy some mocktails.

I should be under 24 weeks so no issues there. Thanks for the speedy replies.

Some may not know this, but you can pay for the soda package instead. It is probably the better choice. True they will not split up packages, but WILL do him alcohol and you soda, saves you almost $100.00 but is the better of the two evils. They've done it for me several times when my sister sails with me because she is Morman and doesn't drink, so they give me the bev package & her the soda. Did the same for when my son traveled with me and was not yet 21. Hope this helps. Even if you don't drink much or any soda, it's better than paying the whole grat fee.
