Formal Night Question

Recommended Posts

We booked two 7 day cruises back to back as one 14 day cruise.  We see there are 3 formal nights as opposed to 2 for each of the 7 day legs.  We are thrilled but is there a way to tell before the cruise which of the two weeks the 2 formal nights would be and which would be only the 1?  So do some of the passengers who booked only a 7 day cruise only get one formal night?  Thanks.

Nope. Each week will have two formal evenings for you.

The Princess computers are not smart enough to recognize that your single booking for two weeks is really two segments, so it just told you the number for a true 14 day cruise.

riffatsea- To clarify-  we booked this as one 14 day cruise so in our case it is not "each cruise".  The cruise planner site shows 3 formal nights.  I understand from what caribill posted that the computer cannot see this as two 7 day cruises in our case so we will plan on 4 formal nights.  Thanks to all.

There should and there will be.

However, the Princess standard for number of formal evenings is 2 on cruises that are 7 to 13 days in length and is 3 for cruises that are 14 to 20 days in length.

The OP booked the cruise as a 14 day cruise with a single booking number. The Princess computer looked at that and figured that since it was a 14 day cruise, the rule for 14-20 day cruises applies and thus said there would be 3 formal evenings.

But those on this board are smarter than the computer and know that since it is really 2 seven-day segments, the rule is 2 formal evenings for each segment and thus a total of 4 formal evenings.

You cannot always believe what Princess says,  have been on 18 day cruises and should be 3 formal nights and they had only two.  And that was with 12 sea days.  You really do not know what Princess is doing until you are on the ship.  The stated policies and what the ships do seem to be very different at times.

Captain's choice.
