Cheers-Best High End Drinks

We have purchased Cheers for our New Years Cruise. It looks like we can get drinks valued up to $20. What are some good high end drinks to get?  Also what brands of Cabernet do they have on the Glory?

Anything at Alchemy Bar. Just tell them your base liquor, if you want it sweet, not so sweet, fruity, pick of syrup, etc. It order off the menu. I paid $14.92 for each drink (tip included). If you are a whiskey drinker, I know some good, top shelf shots were in the $20 limit, but I forget the name of it.

I love Alchemy Bar drinks. I've gotten so fussy that it is hard to drink anything from the other bars. I just wish they Alchemy had longer hours.

We love Cabernet, however no high end Cabs by the glass. There are some high end bottles on the Steakhouse menu and you get 25% off with Cheers or 50% off the first night.

As much as all of the Cheers fans tote the ability to try high end stuff for "free" there isn't much of a selection. There is some Grey Goose VX in the casino. Steakhouse might have a few good things. If you're buying it for that, you will be disappointed.

I like bourbon and while the bourbon selections of Buffalo Trace and Woodford do just fine for me, there are no high end bourbons to be found anywhere. Even the most expensive wine at dinner isn't more than a $15 bottle at retail.

As others have pointed out, the steakhouse typically has Blantons. And you do not need to be eating there to get a drink from the steakhouse bar. Unfortunately it doesn’t open until dinner time though.

Some of the refurbished ships that added the Steakhouse, such as the Sunrise, don't have bar in the restaurant.

The Alchemy bar also has Blanton's.  I'm pretty sure I drank most of the bottle on the Dream.  Every time I showed up he knew to grab it and it had the same amount as when I left before. 🙂

The last few times I went to Alchemy, they didn't have Blanton's 😞

Yikes!  Guess I was lucky.  Alchemy on the Dream had it for Thanksgiving '18 cruise.  We fixing to do our first Journeys cruise next month on Glory.  Hope they have it there.  If not then I see the Steakhouse in my near future.  Hate that it's hard to find.

Well I think that would depend on what you like... do you like wine?  Beer?  Liquor?  What kind?  Rum, vodka, tequila or whiskey?  Whiskey or whisky?  Way too many variables.

Since you're so knowledgeable please provide examples of them all. I dont drink alot but I want to drink like a king for a week and try everything.

Well you're not going to drink like a king on carnival.  They really have no high end beer or wine.  The best wines they have on board can generally be had for $15 a bottle ashore.

Vodka?  They have Grey Goose and Grey Goose VX.  I like both, but some prefer Belvedere.  All are good choices.

Tequila, Don Julio Anejo is my favorite, but Roca Patron is the "highest end" they carry that I know of.

For whiskey, depends on what you like.  They do have Makers, and there's a recent rumor you can find Blantons in the steak house, but I haven't seen it firsthand.

The best Whisky they have is probably a 12yo MacAllan.

The advent of the Blue Iguana and Red Frog bars have introduced a lot of new rums.  The rum bar alone could probably fill a whole thread.

Generally speaking, if you want fairly good quality spirits and decent drinks, spend some time at the Alchemy Bar.

Or you could also drink 15 Coors Lights in a bucket by the pool.  Whatever you like.

I was on the Dream last February. It is possible I missed it. I'm fairly sure I asked what bourbon they had and that was it. Although it is possible I asked that in my May cruise on the Liberty. That one definitely did not have it. In October, they also didn't have it at Alchemy.

I did fail to ask in the Steakhouse all 3 times too.

We found if we ask.. that Grey Goose Vodka and Hendricks Gin were available

We did not have as much luck with Bourbon .. We found the BEST bartenders on the ship were at the Alchemy bar. The drinks were  consistent, mixed well and served with some fun and fair.

Since we had the drink package we chatted it up with the them and they each made for us the signature drink that they are "known for". We had a blast, got to try new things and developed a good rapport with the Alchemy bar staff.

This is honestly your best bet vs trying to find the "most expensive stuff". I've had some Alchemy mixologists make me some fantastic signature drinks.
