Bin man Posted December 31, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2019 Never realised how many ships use Funchal in Madeira for new year celebrations. 4 Ships in port and 6 anchored off shore .Has anybody experienced this ?Must be very busy?
Lesanne Posted December 31, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2019 Yes very popular most will sail after the fireworks, lots of small boats will be in the bay as well
Thejuggler Posted December 31, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2019 Looks like there may be as many as 12 cruise ships this year, 10 there now and 2 heading towards Funchal. That is more than I have noticed over the last 5-6 years, probably due to it being a new decade.
kalos Posted December 31, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2019 Out of all of our New Year cruise destinations this ranked high with us. When we were out and about the Island did not seem over run nor did the port area. The magic starts at midnight when the whole Island seems to erupt in fireworks, plenty of films on Youtube but being up on deck was awesome. We would do it all again .
