Check you letter also. You will need to use it by a certain date. Do not remember when. Only a few months from now.

We were on the NY to Pt Canaveral.  I found out about it on here & the other social media site well before Carnival issued any letters.  My travel agent took care of it for us,  booked another cruise using the deposit & getting the 25% off, also got the $200 OBC ($100 PP) We are disappointed to say the least, we were looking forward to the new ship.

Not sure how the 2% was figured from. Mine was more than 25% of the cruise fair. My TA mentioned it was 25% of the cruise fair including the port charges not the tax. Still did not came out. It was more than I figured. Not including the TAs commission. That was $88.00

You have confused me. Does not take much.

I had my deposit for the Mardi Gras cruise used to book another Halloween cruise on the 5 night Sunrise. Also the 25% FCC from the cost of the Mardi Gras cruise to pay off the balance and the the rest was refunded to my charge card. I read that you got 25% off of the next cruise you booked? " booked another cruise using the deposit & getting the 25% off" ?

To get the $100 pp obc you must rebook and use the 25% FCC by 2/18/20. Otherwise the 25% FCC must be used by 12/20/20.

not understanding what you are asking.  We were able to transfer our deposit from our Mardi Gras cruise to our new cruise.  And the new cruise  was discounted by 25%.  And because we booked prior to 2/18/2020 we received a total of $200 OBC for 2 passengers.

Your new cruise was not discounted 25% unless of course the amount of your 25%FCC from the Mardi Gras was exactly 25% of your new cruise fare.😎

You will receive a 25% FCC from the cost of the Mardi Gras cruise that was cancelled, to be used against my next cruise. Not a 25% discount off of my next cruise. 

This is the information for the October 31, 2020 cruise out of Florida.

Carnival Cruise Line has been informed by officials at the Meyer Turku shipyard that delivery of Mardi Gras will be delayed and is advising booked guests and travel advisors that the first revenue sailing of the ship will be Nov. 14, 2020.

With this new schedule, Carnival will now take delivery of the ship in late October and its first revenue sailing will depart from Port Canaveral on Nov. 14, 2020.  Consequently, the first eight sailings that were scheduled starting Aug. 31 have been cancelled, including European, transatlantic and New York-based itineraries and four Port Canaveral itineraries.

Carnival said that the guest notification process began promptly after the notice by Meyer Turku so that impacted guests could begin to make alternative vacation plans.  As a gesture of goodwill, Carnival is offering these guests a 25 percent future cruise credit (FCC), in addition to the full refund of their cruise fare (and applicable fees and taxes and other pre-purchased cruise components), as well as assistance with non-refundable airline and hotel reservations already booked. In addition, if guests rebook their cruise vacation using their 25 percent FCC by Feb. 18, 2020, they will be credited with an additional $100 per person onboard credit for that cruise.  Carnival has also communicated guidelines to travel advisors regarding commission protection. 

"We have been working closely with Meyer Turku executives to keep the Mardi Gras delivery on schedule, and while we deeply regret disappointing our guests, this change in the delivery date is required to make sure all of the ship's systems, features and technology will be fully operational, so that we can give our guests the vacation they expect. Our commitment is to deliver a great and innovative ship, and Mardi Gras will definitely be that when it arrives in North America," said Ben Clement, Carnival Cruise Line's senior vice president of newbuild.

Hope everything works out for you, we took the 25% which was about $700 ( I has a Ocean Suite booked) and also applied my deposit to our next cruise and got $225.00 OBC because we booked about two days after learning of cxl cruise. Although we booked a simple 4 day gateway cruise, it only cost me a little over $650 after discount and deposit for two.

I had the Elation booked for the 2021 Halloween cruise and switched to the Mardi Gras for Halloween 2021 It was $200.00 less for the same cruise same cabin. They cancelled the Elation and did not charge me any cancellation fee. Then I booked the Sunrise 5 dayer for Halloween 2020. Between the 25% and the deposit I had on the Mardi Gras. It covered that cruise plus left overs went to my charge card as a refund. No complaints form me. having the $200 OBC and my Stock $50.00 and Casino $50.00 We are very happy. Just really wished we could have cruised the Mardi Grah, Boo Hiss

Can you just imagine what it cost carnival for the delay. Wonder if the builder had insurance for any delays. It was sold out. So you are talking somewhere around 6000 guests to take care of in a short amount of time. yes we were very disappointed but they did us just fine to make up to it. I lost $150.00 in perks for that cruise.

I guess I did not understand it that way.  The 2 cruises were approximately the same cost, so it seemed to work out that way for us.

I guess I'll share our story. We were booked on the 15 day repo cruise. Once this cruise was cancelled, we received a refund of our shore excursions right away. We decided to book B2B cruises totalling 13 days on the Radiance. The first one is a 6 day Bermuda, and the second one is a Canada / New England cruise. Yesterday I called my PVP to do the bookings. Since my $500 deposit money hadn't been refunded yet, they allowed me to split it and apply $250 to each cruise which satisfied the deposit requirements for both cruises. He then applied our 25% FCC which amounted to $950 to the first cruise. The $200 obc was also applied to our first cruise. We also got another $50 obc from the rate code we booked with. The whole process was very easy.😎

I have a couple questions:

 

Will Carnival transfer the Vacation Protection from Mardi Gras cruise to new one booked?

 

Who do I contact for help on non-refundable domestic airfare?  Luckily I paid extra to have the international flight refundable.

Since Jamman shared his story, I’ll share ours.  Two other couples and ourselves were booked on the same 15 day Journeys cruise as he and Patti.  We booked the very first day that bookings opened and very able to get cabins in good locations at good rates.  Our small group decided that we should use our refund do back-to-back on the Mardi Gras in January 2021, but when we went to book, only a few undesirable cabins remained.  We had to shift to more expensive cruises in February to find cabins in decent locations, but even then, they were not as good as what we had originally booked.  We booked a cabin of the same category as the cancelled cruise.  After all was said and done, the 14 day cruise was about $100 less than the 15 day cruise, and that is after the 25% FCC was applied.

 

The 25% FCC sounds good, but we lost out on this deal.  In our case, the 25% FCC just offset the price increase from opening day until now.  Furthermore, a 15 day Journeys cruise has much more to offer than a 14 day back-to-back such as additional activities, no repeated menus or shows, and no wasted turnaround day.

We also were on the inaugural cruise of the Mardi Gras on Aug. 31, 2020. We were told by our Carnival travel agent that we would be refunded all our money for non-refundable flights and hotels.  Well I just found out today that isn't the case!!  Our airfare cost $1,124.00 and they will only reimburse us the change flight fee of up to $450.00 a person.  I'm not going to rebook a flight to Europe the only reason I was flying o Europe is because of the cruise.  So at this point it doesn't look like we will get anything except 1 night in a hotel in Copenhagen.  I am so upset with Carnival!!

Assuming that you booked through a TA (not a PVP), your TA may be able to negotiate with Carnival.  Carnival wants to keep their TA's happy so that they don't steer clients to other cruise lines.

I'm booked on the Thanksgiving week cruise,  which will currently be the second cruise.   However, based on the history of Mardi Gras earlier sister ships already launched by Meyer Turku,  they all faced multiple delays and cancellations.    Each ship has gotten faster to production,  but  based on past history,  I'm doubtful this is the last notice of delay.     I'd start thinking of being flexible with your plans on Mardi Gras through January just in case.   

 

Also interesting to note, is they didn't create a new trans-atlantic sailing.   That's a lot of lost revenue.   Sort of think when this gets nailed down, we might see a last minute (5 - 6 months out trans-atlantic sailing pop back up.)

 

Also hoping that all the venue's are up and running on the early sailings.   The Bolt, is probably the most dicey to be operational.
