Around 1:30 we decided to go check out our cabins.

Thanks. For some reason my phone doesn't like video links.

Ha!  I was going to change your status to "Platinum" on our TA spreadsheet, but I already had you listed as such!  Congrats on becoming "official".  Looking forward to the rest of your review.  Only 293 days until we board in Barcelona!!!

Wow. C & A pin waiting in room. I have always had to ask for them from the loyalty ambassador

I got my Platinum pin on our cruise and during my last cruise I made Emerald, so hopefully there will be a pin in my cabin when we board.  Then I make Diamond during the cruise so the one after that I should hopefully find another pin in the cabin.

Pins are nice but more important is the correct tire level is printed on your Sea Pass cards. Especially when making diamond and above. We know have 6 D+ pins. 😵

Our bags began to show up outside the room so we unpacked and I sent Brett & Jenn a quick video of how to find where their muster drill would be.

Once unpacked we headed to Boleros on the Promenade for the 3 of them to get drinks. That was the first and only time we got drinks there all week.

We walked around some more and made our way up to the fitness center and back down to Sorrentos where they got another drink and said they were good this time.

Up to Windjammer for a quick unexciting snack before muster:

Nate & I had muster drill on deck 6 Aqua Theater. It seemed like this drill lasted an awful long time compared to our 2 on Jewel.

From muster Nate & I went up to deck 16 to watch sail away. We messaged Brett & Jenn where to find us and told them they didn’t want to miss their first sail away (in our opinions).

The above has always been my favorite hallway on the Allure. not really sure why. just makes me happy.

This cute little stack was in the duty free shop.

After dinner we went to the casino again and I won $40 on roulette and cashed out. Risk taker I am not.
I think we were in bed by 10pm that night after a great embarkation day.

I realized I didn’t answer the question about the drink package and of course now I can’t find the pic but my notes say the lowest we saw it at one of the bars that day was $75 for guest 1 and 1/2 off second. Another place it was $81 and $54.

About our cabin: perfect location for us. Our cabin steward, Aris, was good. Nothing outstanding, but our room was always clean and he always said hi in the hall. What more can you ask for? He brought me wine glasses when I requested them with no hesitancy.

The Voom Surf & Stream worked great all week. I was able to upload to social media and create a couple youtube videos with no problems.

Just a couple notes while I was thinking of them...

awful service, awful food, and they ripped us off...I only had $26 in food and drink and somehow my bill alone was $45! they charge the gratuity, tax, AND a service fee.I’m not going to post pics of the food because I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I (and my wallet) felt sick the rest of the night.

A lot of restaurants on Lincoln Rd & near Ocean Ave. charge a service fee. We stayed in South Beach last Feb. & had a very good meal at Alma Mexicana on Washington Ave. Reasonable prices & no service fee.

Hey Singin' 😁 ... following as usual.

Too bad your dinner wasn't the greatest

May I offer some suggestions for anyone (maybe you too if you're ever back!) taking notes on their future stays in South Beach:

  • One of the best Mexican meals I have ever had anywhere  is only about a 3 block walk from this place above. It's called Diez y Sies inside the Shore Club Hotel (1901 Collins)... just a beautiful place and the food was totally superb.
  • On the very same block as Taco Taco is another extremely  awesome Mediterranean  restaurant called  Cleo (1776 Collins). Incredible menu (Moroccan, Libyan, Greek, Spanish... a fusion of all Med countries).

Expect 18% service charge on all your bills, and good sit down restaurants are definitely expensive in South Beach.

The following day was a sea day and we woke up at 8:45.

We went up to Windjammer for breakfast but the line wrapped down the stairs so we decided to finally try something we hadn’t tried before: the MDR for breakfast.

We headed to the gym after that and Brett & Jenn met us there. As a side story...I can’t remember if I’ve told this story in any of my previous reviews, but I lost 120lbs in 2011 and that is why it’s very important to me to keep myself active. I gain weight very easily. The pic below is not me at my heaviest, but you get the point.

After my workout Jenn and I decided to go walk the track on 5.

Good for you. I believe in disciplining yourself  in what you want to eat (portion control) but not depriving yourself of what you want to eat. Same with drinking.  Mix in some exercise, walking including using the stairs instead of excavators can help with cruise weight gains. Now back to your cruise...
