So here is the start of a list of what you can drink FREE (or with no up-charge, however you choose to call it):

Water

Iced Tea

Coffee

Lemonade

Hot Tea (a bunch of choices)

Hot Chocolate

Milk

Chocolate Milk

Orange Juice

Pineapple Juice

Grape Juice

Prune Juice

Also, alcohol is free at the "meet the officers" reception first gala night & the mariner welcome aboard reception & probably other events we are not privy to as lowly 3 Stars.

2 bottles of wine w/no corkage brought on at embarkation

We've never gone thirsty and we've never paid for any drink except for wine...and wine...and wine.....and then more wine.

What did I forget?  Grapefruit juice?

V-8 and tomato juice

Any more?

perhaps "no up-upcharge" would be an acceptable term? or would you prefer "included in your base fare"?

If it's okay with you, I am fine with the way I  worded my post and see no need to change it.

Thanx   anyway

Oh wow, I see guava juice on the list - really?!  That is wonderful.  My DH loves it.  I'm pleasantly surprised to see all of the options and am looking forward to a few of them on our next cruise 🙂 Thanks for offering this list.

This thread made me smile.  "Ordinary coffee" is not what I would call that stuff they put in a coffee cup.  But that is not a specific HAL problem.  As to the free drinks at the various Mariner's club events one has to measure that against the "pain" of going to those events (yes, I know those events are the highlight of some cruiser's lives).  The last time I suggested attending a Mariner's Club event to DW I received "the look" along with the comment that "we can pay for our drinks."  As we sat at a bar and noticed the long queue to get into that Mariners Club function I had to admit that DW had a good point.

I do not wish  to change my verbage  but  thanks for suggesting.

I think I'll not change my post.  🙂

I  do, however,  add  ice cream in Lido  to   the growing list of things included in our fare  with   no charge at  time of consumption.

Nope not that I have seen for the last few years.  Fresh squeezed in the Pinnacle Grill at breakfast (for NS & above) Neptune Lounge and room service last time I was on board.

OJ is in the LIdo was drinkable and seemed to be a mix?  Not sure but it wasn’t fresh squeezed OJ.

Only the NS and above can book the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast?

WE  went most  days to PG for breakfast and   never 'booked'  They quickly  recognized Neptune guests.  We never had an issue about  no 'booking'  or wait for a table.

Same experience - after the first time, they seem to recognize you and we just walk in.

Well, nothing is free on a cruise ship. It can appear that way. If anyone is in the least doubtful, it will become  much clearer with the bar bill.

True, since most of us pay to be on the ship.  There seems to be a few posters who object strongly to the word "free", and make that point regularly.  IMHO that's not a good way to welcome new posters to the HAL board, though.  😞

On my first cruise (crossing really), I kept looking for a way to pay for stuff. And as buffets were unlimited there was a certain "abandonment" that accompanied life at sea, for better or worse. Freedom seems a reasonable descriptor. "Inclusive" rather than "free" says the same thing, is more accurate but is not as poetic. I prefer poetry - it is the romantic in me.🤣
