We are arriving in Amsterdam on July 30th. Would anyone have detailed information on how to get from the airport to Hotel Jakarta via public transport? We are able to walk so getting to stations would not be an issue for us. Thanks very much.

Cheers, Betty

Look at either Rome2Rio.com or Google directions. Either will give you detailed directions by public transit. Basically, according to Rome2Rio, you take the train from the Airport to Amsterdam Centraal, and then tram 26 to within 4 minutes walk of the hotel.

In Holland we use www.9292.nl  for all types of public transport.  Choose your language and Fill out: departure Schiphol Station and arrival Amsterdam Javakade 766. At this very moment the answer is: 11:21 departure Schiphol station, 11:35 arrival Amsterdam Centraal Station. walk 5 minutes to Busstation of Central Station (river IJ-side), Perron G-F and take bus 48 at 11.42. Leave the bus at 11.49 at the busstop Tosaristraat. 1 minute walk to Westcord/Javahotel. Enjoy your stay and cruise.

Whatever you do, do NOT use Rome2rio to book tickets for public transport. They are a 3rd party ticket reseller and charge a fee on top of the normal ticket price. The train from Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Amsterdam Centraal costs €4,50 when you buy your ticket online at the official website of the company that runs the trains or in their app. Rome2rio charges you €5,60 for that exact same train ticket.

The official website of the Dutch railway company and their app both have an English version and both accept foreign credit cards. See www.ns.nl/en

Good to know. I have only ever used Rome2Rio for directions.  (In Amsterdam I have only used the train from the airport to Amsterdam Centraal, and just bought tickets at the kiosk.)
