Live From Regal 1/19/2020 E. Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Enjoying your review.  Thanks for the info regarding allergies----my sister and I both have food allergies and will be doing this itinerary on the Regal in February.  Glad to hear that your wife's allergies were handled so well.  The last time I cruised on Princess was back in 2013, and that was before my allergy diagnosis.  Enjoying your photos too.

It’s a beautiful morning out on the water today. The water looks calm but it’s still very rocky on board. I don’t know if they are having issues with the stabilizers or if the waters are just deceiving.

Here is the Patter for today.

Here is tonight’s dinner menu. It’s one of my favorite that Princess does.

My favourite menu too. I do wish though, that they would do the lobster and beef wellington on separate nights, or offer this menu twice!

Fantastic live from, thank you for taking the time to do this, I’m always looking forward to the next instalment.

Nothing wrong with Surf & Turf either.  :classic_happy:

I haven’t seen mention in the patters of anything relating to an egg drop competition or an escape room. Any info on whether these are offered on this ship and itinerary?

The Regal hasn't been doing the egg drop competition. The Crown still has it.

Question - are there bars of soap in the cabins? We're going to be on the Regal for the 2/2/2020 sailing. The Sky did not have any in December, and, I heard they were doing away with them fleetwide, just not sure how soon. Since the Sky was spanky new, I don't think it ever had a bar of soap.

We are currently in an aft cabin on Dolphin deck and have had bars of soap all week long.

I'm currently onboard the Regal too and there was a sign up for the escape room on the first day. We didn't participate though.

Don’t know about the egg drop, but I saw the sign up for the Escape Room on the Patter that was posted on the first day. Sign up is at the Outrigger at 7:30 on the first night. I’m pretty sure the cost is $8 per person.  We’re looking forward to trying it next week. Never done it on board, but know a few who’ve done here at home, with good reviews.

thanks! I went back and reviewed the patter again and it was there. Missed it the first time.

Tonight is the All American Menu.

DW ordered the creamy apple soup and a salad.

And I ordered the chicken nuggets and the pork terrine.

Unfortunately we had our first allergy issue of the cruise. They brought DW the wrong soup. She knew after taking the first bite it was wrong and they brought out the correct one which was very different. Mistakes are bound to happen. They apologized several times. I mean what else can you do at that point right?  Just thankful that DWs allergies aren’t severe like others and she will just be a little ill tonight.

For dinner DW preordered Pad Thai.

I ordered the surf and turf and the Pad Thai. The surf and Turf was good. The Pad Thai was Very disappointing. It lacked flavor and had no spice to it. We love Thai food and this was a big letdown.

DW got the chefs special which was the chocolate cake and DW said it was as delicious as it was the first night. I got the apple pie and it was good, would have been better if it were warm.

And of course the night wouldn’t be complete without the parade of baked Alaska!

Nothing in the Patter looked all that interesting to us, Voices of the Ocean isn’t really our jam and with DW having eaten some dairy we wanted to head back to the room. Plus the evening was beautiful and who wouldn’t want to enjoy every minute of this view while you still can!

Is it back to reality tomorrow or are you doing a B2B?

God we wish we were doing a B2B but work obligations and cost are preventing that from happening. One day!

We did just book an 11 day British Isles Cruise, but that is well over a year out and gives us time to save up the money and PTO.

Thanks for the entertaining ride-along. We’re boarding today. Perhaps I missed it, but did they have the rock concert in the Piazza, with the very talented staff performing? It was our favorite show on our last Regal sailing, & it was packed!

Thanks for posting the "Live from..." thread. I enjoyed reading about your experiences (and I wouldn't have bothered going to see Troy's second stand up comedy show had you not posted such positive reviews of his first show).

Have a safe journey home.

Hi, I really enjoyed following along.  We will be on the Regal Princess in March.  I saw that they are showing Downtown Abbey on MUTS, but missed it in the Patter.  Do you know which night it was playing.  Thanks so much.

I don’t but it must have been late in the cruise as it just showed up in the cabin on demand list the last night.

I don’t remember seeing it unfortunately.

We were on this cruise too and I don't remember seeing it in the Patter. This cruise had 800+ passengers on board for a 50s & 60s concert at sea cruise, and it seemed like the entertainment was adjusted a bit for that crowd. They held events in the Vista several nights. It didn't really impact our enjoyment any, but I had been looking forward to the crew show after reading all the glowing reviews on CC. I guess my point is just because it wasn't on our cruise this week doesn't mean it won't be back next week 😁

Well it’s the day no one every wants to see, the day of disembarkation. Fort Lauderdale was it’s usual quite port.

We got up and ready and headed to breakfast in the MDR about 6:45. It was darn near empty. Always love breakfast in the MDR vs the circus in the buffet

After breakfast we headed to the room to gather our things. We went to the Vista lounge for the P/E disembarkation lounge and it was also almost empty. Not sure if people don’t pay more attention but I saw plenty of Platinums in other locations around the ship waiting. Oh well more room for us! lol. And let me tell you the other lounges/waiting areas were packed!

We had Cream 3 and were called around 8:15, walked right off and grabbed our luggage. Terminal 21 has a Global Entry line and we had our cards so we walked right up to the customs official. To be honest the other line was relatively short and you maybe had a 5 minute wait, maybe.

the hardest part of the process was getting a Lyft to the airport. There were so many people in port that cell service was terrible so it was hard for the app to connect, I had 2 drivers cancel on me and it ended up taking longer to get a ride than the entire disembarkation process. I think next time I will just do a taxi to the airport. So keep this in mind when planning your departure.

I will post some final thoughts sometime in the next day or so but we had a really wonderful trip.
