POOL CHAIR HOGS A SOLUTION

Recommended Posts

If NCL wont deal with the problem let cruise critic followers tell them what we think they can do about it..How about 2 rows of chairs to replace one row of loungers. How about a flag you push up when in use and down when you leave. How about pool opens at 8 AM any towels left before will be removed. The chair problem is the number one complaint on all reviews We all know NCL reads the cruise critic forum lets tell them what they can do to solve this problem.

Or just monetize it.  Charge for the chairs.

Go out early and pick up all the towels, paper back books and whatever they’ve left out there for over a hour and put it all at the towel booth or anywhere

The chair hogs will start getting the hint once they come down to the pool and their stuffs all gone

And imagine their Expressions 😳🤣🤣🤣

But if you go out early, why wouldn't you just grab your own chairs?

I vote for a tiered punishement system

1st Offense: Piglet – Verbal Warning

2nd Offense: Pig - Official Written Warning

3rd Offense: Feral Pig– ½ Ban from Observation lounge

4th Offense: Wild Boar – Full Day Ban from pool deck

5th Offense: Confirmed Chair Hog – Tossed into the Brig for one night

6th Offense: Bacon – Chopped into pieces and served at the buffet

I get up early and walk around....usually go by the pool....see how many Chogs have already staked our their claims....then I go have breakfast and afterwards walk back past the pool....at least a hour to 1.5 hours have passed but it’s still only approx 7:30am....there’s normally still No one sitting in the loungers but their stuff is still there Hogging the space....so a few times I’ve scooped up all their stuff and brought it over to the towel hut

I figure if NCL isn’t going to police their policies I’ll help them out once in awhile and be the chair police 🤣🤣

Yes I know I have to much time on my hands but Chogs have always been a pet peeve of mine

Sorry, but any "saving" of chairs is hogging.  Why not just get up 10 mins earlier, go eat and then go pick a chair and actually use it?

But if it only takes you 10 minutes to eat why don't you eat and then go get your chairs? I guess we need to create a sliding scale of exactly how long someone claims a chair for that is not in use before it moves up the scale from inconsiderate to rude to chair hog.....

10-20 minutes isn’t bad and not considered being a Chog

It’s the ones that come out there at 5:30-6:00am and put their stuff like towels, books, flip flops, chair clips etc and then go back to sleep and 2 hours later no ones still in the lounger

These CHOGS need to be taken to task and people not put up with their Entitled asses

Actually there is a set time chairs can be unoccupied per NCL rules and even though I hate CHOGS and actually move their stuff I do give the allotted time leeway 🤣🤣

I disagree.  To me a chair hog is anyone who has their "stuff" on a chair in the pool area but THEY are not in the pool area (e.g. pool, pool bar, restroom, towel stand, hot tub.)  If YOU are not in the pool area, you don't have the right to a "reserved" chair in the pool area.

I can see your point

And you are absolutely right that NCL DOES have a "time allowance" - but my interpretation of that is for folks who ARE in the pool area but NOT in their seat.  For example, holding a lounge chair but sitting in the hot tub for 2 hours straight is technically hogging.  If you are going to be away from a lounger that long, you can park your stuff on a regular chair in the shade within your view vs. using a lounge chair in the sun that others could be enjoying.

Personally, I like the idea of charging for them.  Put a parking meter on each lounger that you have to feed quarters into.  Once your time expires, the lounger "pops" and any stuff left on it gets thrown off.

🤣

Does NCL actually enforce this allotted time? Hasn't been my experience on the NCL cruises I've taken.

These "chair hog" threads always turn crazy.  Last time I was floored by the amount of people who were attacking "chair hogs" yet defended themselves and others for the "right" to reserve their chairs at the pool deck while they go to eat and explore the ship.  I'm sorry, that is my definition of a chair hog.  If you are not on the pool deck then you surrender your chair.  I was shocked to find out that many don't think the same way so my input is useless for such threads because we have different opinions of a "chair hog."   Many are chair hogs themselves but refuse to admit it and see themselves in another light.

I could go on a diatribe about this but it's too early 😂  The answer is no, just the same as they don't enforce the "no smoking in the casino unless you are actively playing."  But that's another debate. 😉

Most I’ve seen in enforcement is them putting little notes on the unoccupied chairs as a reminder

I would like to see the rule of not saving loungers for "friends" who may or may not ever show up.
