Hello,

Never booked a guaranteed balcony room before, its cheaper, but is it worth it? What is the worse that can happen? Obstructed view..

For sure we get a balcony right? Do they upgrade sometimes..

Would love any imput.. Its $400 cheaper, but not sure..

thanks

The ship matters.

Which ship?

I'd have no problem doing a guarantee on a Voyager/Freedom class ship.  However, on a Quantum class ship, there are many obstructed view balconies.

$400 is a pretty good discount, not worth it on Quantum Class.  Once you actually receive a cabin number you can change to any other available cabin on any deck in the same category. Lately cabins have been assigned later and later to put a stop to people changing cabins.   Rule of thumb, you must be happy getting the worst cabin in your category.

thanks! It would be on the Freedom of the Seas.  I think we will go for it!

thanks again!!

Good call.  I've had balconies in various locations on Freedom class ships and have never had a bad one.

It's a great deal!  BUT  I'd be concerned of the what if you get stuck below the galley, or loud music, etc....  Like someone else stated you have to be comfortable getting the worst location just in case.  But if noise doesn't bother or location then go for it!

I did a balcony guarantee on her sister ship Liberty several years ago. Great location on the Forward upper deck - deck 9, I believe - very quiet location. The only slightly negative was it was a connecting room but my neighbors were mostly quiet except for one or two occasions.

I would be ok taking a balcony guarantee on the Freedom.  Good luck!

Did a Balcony GTY on Grandeur for Feb. We got a balcony on deck 7. Seems to be a good location, between Centrum and Aft. It is a connected cabin.

Should I have concerns?

Two reasons we won't do guaranteed.

Under pool/Windjammer deck. So Deck 7 is fine

Possibility of getting a connecting cabin. Bingo

In my opinion

I took a chance last week and booked a guaranteed balcony on a last minute cruise next month on the Vision. We received our cabin assignment - deck 7, mid-ship, not connecting. It looks like we are under the shops. I think it's a 1B. So I am super happy with that!

I have booked a guarantee on Carnival's Magic and received a cove balcony that smelled so strongly of sewage that I couldn't sit outside. To me, that's the worst that could happen.
