It depends on what kind of room you prefer to stay in.  It takes 300 points to be Elite on Celebrity vs. 80 points to be Diamond on Royal.  However, unless you are cruising single or in a suite, you get only one point per night on Royal so it takes 80 nights to be Diamond.  On Celebrity, if you stay in concierge class or aqua class, you will earn 5 points per night so you can reach Elite in 60 nights.  On the other hand, if you stay in an ordinary veranda stateroom, you get only 3 points per night so it would take 100 nights.  In a room without a veranda, it would take 150 nights at 2 points per night.  Of course, you can make Elite very fast (in 17 nights) if you stay in the top suites and earn 18 points per night.  There is no way to make Diamond even close to that fast (except via reciprocity with Elite)

We had concierge last time and are booked aqua for next year.  So, we currently have 35 points and will just more than double that to 75 after our July 2021 8 night cruise. So, yeah accumulation of points is different.

Thanks!  This will be land based only, for milestone birthday and our anniversary.  Love Hawaii.  😍

Going back again the following year on Serenade, coming up from Sydney.

All healed up. No more skiing for me the rest of the season. Did they get your AC fixed in your stateroom?

Good to hear you are back up and running...and agree...best not to test your luck with the black diamonds just yet.  😉

Yeah, but it was off for 7 hours, wow did it get hot in here!!.🥺   We had direct aft (wake cabin) with full windows to open balcony...which happened to face the sun that afternoon.  Even with curtains closed..was like a sauna!  Needless to say we did not dress up for formal night.

Mahalo nui loa!....hope you indeed make it back.   Will love the Serenade 5 night tour of the islands, but nothing like actually staying in the islands.  🙂

We did 4 Islands with a tour to Pearl Harbour then our favourite was a movie tour around Kauai.

We would have liked to stay longer in a resort and especially now when you said it is much better actually staying in the islands.

That's probably why there is such a large gap between D+ and Pinnacle, trying to keep it an exclusive club.

Ten years from now, we'll be discussing how there are too many Summit++ members and the need to create a Stratosphere level at 15,000 points.

If they make a new level, and kick the majority of the Pinnacles out of the SL there is only one thing I can guaranttee, Super Mario will have enough points to still access it.

I know this thread is about the CL but I have never opposed creating a P Lounge. Matter of fact I believe I have supported them having their own Lounge.  That might create another dilemma here. P’s who stay in Suites. lol

I think they would appreciate it.  However, they would not be out and about the ship giving the Positive Public Relations, to new cruisers, that was to come with the name tag.  I will honestly say I see few wearing their name tags out of the suite lounge and  living up the honour of spreading positive public relations.  There are some, but judging by heads in the SL, to those in the RP,  they are few and far between.

The old SL on Indy sucked.  Looking forward to the new one on Freedom in January 2021.

How about the "Baileys Lounge".  Corporate sponsorship, and a name pun.  Could it get better? LOL

Let Them build a suite lounge for the suite guest.....why should people who are diamond plus loose out when they have spent well over a hundred thousand to make that mark...they can make it in the chapel on the ships...that way the upper crust will be on the top floor...

D++ and I sail in suites.  We do exist.

Just got to page 30.  I figure 10 pages at a time are good enough to multi-quote.

We do, because then we can sit in the pool lounger all day VS hoarding one like some others. Not to mention advanced starts at 8 somedays. It is all about priorities.

I was really questioning if Rory and D came up for breakfast at 7:30 on a regular basis.

Port days in the Med, maybe

Me in 4 weeks. 😉

I got a nice head start ... 450 points on X🙂

I was Platinum on RCI, so Select on X.

Started sailing X and reached Elite.

Went back to RCI as Diamond.  Will be D+ by EOY.

Back to X for Elite+ ???

You will need 250 more cruise points for the required 700 cruise points for elite+.

Actually 300.  Elite+ starts at 750.

Back to X for Elite+ ??? Translation:  Will/should I go back to X to achieve E+

That's right. I guess I was giving you a one time good deal. 😉 What do you think you should do? We cruise both RC and Celebrity but don't do it for the cruise points. Itineraries, price and ship. It's always nice to hit the next tier level and get the perks/ benefits associated with that tier level. But when it happens it happens.  We like the similarities and the differences between RC and Celebrity.

I will most likely continue to go by embarkation/debarkation port, itinerary, and price.  I'm done a lot of the RCI and Celebrity cruises because of embarkation/debarkation port.

From what I see Elite to Elite+ gives an extra bag of laundry, 150 more internet minutes, plus some minor discount differences.  It doesn't seem like something to go out of the way to achieve.

For us embarkation/disembarkation port isn't a reason for selecting cruises as we have to fly no matter where we cruise from along with pre and post hotel stays, ground transportations and meals.

Agree not huge increase in E+ perks. Were satisfied with being just elite. We're in about the same range as you for making E+. Extra internet is never a factor for us as we stay disconnected on all our cruises. That's why we cruise for the enjoyment and not the cruise points. We were more excited when we made diamond than when we made D+. Don't get me wrong we like the extra perks/benefits. Enjoy. 🍷

Another well written, logical post. IMHO RCI is doing a good job trying to accommodate a burgeoning Loyalty program but many can't see the forest for the trees.

this exactly.

Without question at some point Pinnacle will also have more change coming.  They already do on certain Oasis class cruises.

Only a matter of time.

You and I can’t be the only ones. I almost envision this to be like the Petri dish experiment from high school science.  One day there are a few “flies”, then there are too many, and then they die off.  Then over time the numbers rise again.

Only RC knows if the Pinnacles are truly gaining, maintaining, or losing ground in their actual head count. I’d love to know how many Pinnacles are not sailing anymore, compared to the ones that are proclaimed at the Top Tier event.

Concierge dings a bell at 30 minutes prior... Easy to manage

LOL, dinner is served.

On 1/30/2020 at 10:27 AM, actuarian said:

I think that "dings a bell" may sound a little like a joke but, other than dinging the bell, it is normal procedure on Celebrity.  There is no dedicated Elite venue on most Celebrity ships so the Elite Happy Hour is held in a venue where other events such as trivia games are held at other times.  About 10 minutes before the start of the Elite HH (at 5 PM), they announce that that room is being used for a private event and that the room is to be cleared.  A few minutes later, they ask to see the Sea Passes of everyone who is remaining and, if those Sea Passes do not say Elite (or higher), the people are escorted out of the room.  For the next two hours, they have a crew member checking sea passes at the door.  When the Elite HH ends at 7 PM, the room is reopened to the general public.  So it can be done and there is no need to ding a bell.

This sounds interesting but it still doesn’t help with the CK crowding.

They can only drag them on the cruise adventures, and earn Pinnacle the old fashioned way. One day at a time. 😂

There are some couples who will book a JS and another stateroom for the triple points and they're are Pinnacles.  Not sure why they would do it after making Pinnacle but hey, whatever floats their boat.

If only for the weather.  Side note just so you all know, chogs are just as bad there as on the ship, maybe worse.

We will be there on Freedom, next January, and will enjoy the view from the SL with a view.  We did a private boat rental last week and went out from the cruise port. Saw royalty, in the from of Queen Victoria.

We also went snorkelling with the fishies and turtles at 2 different locations.  Here’s my new friend.
