The Cruise Director was Giuseppe. First contract on the Edge. He came from the Reflection I think. He was great! One of our favorites.

Oh great!  I have heard he is very good and funny!

Thanks for the review!  We're doing the same itinerary in April, have also been on Summit and Equinox, and are also in our mid-50s, so good to see the opinion of people coming from the same vantage point as us.  Great pictures!

Enjoyed reading your review and seeing all the photos!

We are contemplating the Edge in an infinite balcony for a transatlantic cruise.  We have only been on Celebrity once and really liked it.  We have always had a “real” balcony before and a little concerned about what looks like a better version of an ocean view?   Any comments of pros and cons on your cabin?

Thank you.

If there were more regular balconies on the Edge for the same price, I would have chosen a real balcony.  But since that wasn't an option, we were fine with the IV.  There's just the extra step of pushing the button to roll down the upper part of the window.  Once that was down, it was very similar to a traditional balcony.  It was nice having the extra space in the room especially since we had some gloomy weather.  We could sit in the "balcony" chairs with the window up and still get the view of a balcony without the wind or rain outside.  We had an ocean view years ago on a Carnival ship and this was definitely better than that.

Thanks!  I think you'll really enjoy it!  We enjoyed the extra entertainment options like the Eden show and then there was a trapeze show in the Club several nights - we never went, but it was nice to have options for the evenings.

Thank you for answering.  I think it might be a good option to try especially since you said it was better than an ocean view you had.  Now just go convince Mr Bear to do the transatlantic!

Thanks for the great detailed review.  I really appreciated the different hints you provided about the dining.  We have the fixed seating and wondered if we would be able to try out some of the other main dining venues.  We are really looking forward to getting on the ship.  We are sailing on Feb. 9 and Feb. 16.

Did they eliminate the Stone Slab in the Eden Bar.  It was where the wooden floor is near the bar.   It was about the same size as the floor and about 2 to 3 ft high.   The Edenists used it as their stage.   I don’t think it was portable.    It was always there when we were sailed in March.

thanks for you review.

I did not see anything like that in there.  They performed on the wooden floor as far as I remember.

Here is a photo.   We were sitting at the bar   We didn’t want to sit in the front row because during the show they would ask passenger to participate.   That rock as they called it  was always there.   It was part of the lounge area.

This was their 10 pm show that they did every other night.   It lasted until 11:30.   I have heard that it was cut down from the original performance that ended around midnight.   People would just come and go like any other lounge show.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Day 8 – Fort Lauderdale   Our meeting place was in the Club at 8:15.  We ate breakfast in the Cosmopolitan MDR and then went to check in.  We were called around 8:30 and debarkation was a breeze. Our luggage was waiting for us so we grabbed it and headed for the exit! With the facial recognition we just walked up and they verified it was us and we walked out of the terminal because we didn’t have anything to declare.  We were escorted to our tour bus where the driver separated our luggage by airport and left shortly thereafter.  Our tour guide, Bonnie, was wonderful.  She gave us lots of history of the area while we were driving.  We went to Sawgrass Recrational Park for our airboar ride.  In addition we saw some gators who had been rescued and also another area with rescued animals such as panthers, snakes, a porcupine, etc.  We heard from guides in both areas.  Next, we boarded our airboats – much bigger than we expected.  They fit around 40 people each.  The captain was hoping to find us an alligator to see.  We didn’t realize this was the goal of the trip lol.  We lived in Houston for 30 years and have seen a few gators just walking in our neighborhood!  We were lucky and saw 2 of them while we were out.  The trip before us didn’t find any.  After the airboat ride, we were driven to our final stop.  I can't remember the name of it, we think it was something with Long Key in the name. There was a museum which showed what happened when they drained the swamps to the Native Americans and wildlife.  There was also a nature trail you could walk to see some beautiful old oak trees and other local plants.  We were driven to FLL and had enough time to grab lunch at the airport before we caught our flight home.  It was a great week on the Edge.  Beautiful ship, top notch staff from the Captain on down.  Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer.

What time was your flight back from FLL and what time did you get to the airport from this excursion? We are looking for something to do between disembarking and our 3pm Toronto flight.

That stage no longer exists and is flat.  The show comes on a couple of nights at 10:15 and last probably 50 minutes.

We are on this ship, same ports next week.  thanks so much for the review.  We too are going to the Baths, but are going on our own.  I assume you enjoyed?   Any suggestions/hints for us?  Were you able to carry a backpack as you walked through?  We are trying to avoid using one of the lockers.

That excursion looks like fun..  We will be getting a  rental car at the airport to drive back to the West Coast so no big time pressure...only the drive across Alligator Alley and up to the Venice area,  DH might enjoy the airboat ride.  Is it loud?

Our flight from FLL was at 3 and we arrived at the airport around noon.  It worked out perfectly for us!

It was loud, but they provided ear plugs - just the foam kind.

I had one of the Celebrity beach bags.  When we were on the beach, I just left it near a rock or tree. A lot of people were doing that.  Definitely wear water shoes/sandals.  You are walking along rocks and sandy trails.  You will have a blast!

You are correct.  Anyone who wants to see the show should ask when it is as it is only offered maybe 3 times during a 7 night cruise.

The same here took as little as possible to carry , easy to take through baths. Just be careful on beach saw a few leave to close to edge and next wave cause a wash out - But we were on the 12/1 sailing so had very rough seas that may be caused the waves at the beach

Thank you for this detailed review.  We will be on Edge for 2 weeks beginning on Feb 23.  I like how you cruise...we are very similar.  We had a friend on Edge in December and she really enjoyed her trip.

Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time for this.   I have not been thrilled about trying the new class of ship.  But the more of these reviews I am seeing, I think I am going to book when I am on board next month to try it.
