Princess Gift cards for on board charges

Can you cash in Princess Gift Cards at the beginning of your cruise to pay for excursions and on board purchases?

I want to avoid the last minute rush to settle your account at guest services.

I can get some discounted gas if I buy Princess Gift cards. I don't want to buy many.

Thanks all.

Yes, I did. I had a $100 gift card and I took it to guest services and they applied it to my account. As I bought things, it deducted from my $100 credit. The guest services agent told me if I apply the $100 and don't use it all I can't take the balance and use it on a future cruise. I would lose it.  If I only wanted to use a portion of it I should wait until the end of the cruise, then tell them how much to apply. The rest would then be left on the card to use in the future.

That's good information!  I have taken my cards to GS at the beginning to avoid the rush and was never told that I would forfeit any that was left over.  Of course, its never yet been an issue as I seem to find a way to spend my OBC but it could cause a headache.

This was my experience as well.  Just went in the first couple of days, once the crowds died down and before they built up again ... applied the gift cards to my account and bingo!

we took a $ 100 gift card to GS on the 2nd day to really avoid the rush … turns out the last night we had about $ 20 remaining, so we went to the casino, got $25 in chips, turned it into $ 50 cashed out, and ended up owing about $ 4 with that balance charged to our card

Perfect
