Just returned from 11 day cruise out of San Juan and will share a few of my thoughts.      We arrived around 3 pm and we’re able to walk right in and on to the ship.  This was good as there is no place to sit in the terminal.  Also good as our room was immediately ready.   We had a standard balcony.  Having been on Epic before, I was aware of bathroom situation which did not bother me.  Room had adequate storage and a balcony which was larger than Breakaway class.  Wish they would get rid of ,or downsize, that monstrosity of a sofa which takes up way too much room.                                                                          On to food.  I know it is subjective, but I was very disappointed .  I never had a great meal but a couple of ok ones.  OSheeans never had rib night or prime rib night as they have on other ships. Don’t know if these menus are fleet wide or specific to this ship. Drinks were good and never had to wait more then a couple of minutes.  Did notice the propriety wine made for NCL was now $17 though was $15 back in September  The wine by glass selection that was $15 and below was very limited.                                                               We did not see a lot of entertainment but did go to Howl at the moon which we always enjoy as well as the comedians.   Spent time in the casino and have never seen such tight machines.                Ports were great which is why we chose this cruise.   Since we’ve been to all these before, we arranged our own excursions.   We did do the glass bottom boat in St Kitts and we’re very disappointed.  There was no glass bottom , just a couple of  dirty “windows” on the floor enclosed by a waist high wall.  Never saw a thing.   Left late so got 1 hour on beach then back.                                                                                 Disembarkation was the easiest and fastest I’ve ever had.   I did enjoy myself but if this had been my 1st NCL I don’t know if I’d book another.  As we are platinum plus I know NCL can do better

We are on the seven day Epic cruise out of SAN Juan in three weeks. We have sailed on the Epic twice and like the ship but we picked this cruise because of the itinerary. We are also Platinum Plus and will be staying in the Haven for the first time on the Epic. Some of the issues you mentioned IMO are specific to the individual ship primarily because of poor management. We were recently on the Breakaway about ;six weeks apart. One cruise was great, the other mediocre at best. Same staff, same protocols but delivered quite differently. You just don’t know from cruise to cruise what product you’re going to get.

What you describe is NCL cutting to the bone.  Food budgets are down, casino is squeezing every possible penny out of their 'valued' customers.  Staffing is down.  Prices are up.  NCL is doing everything it can to squeeze every last nickel and dime from their 'valued' customers.  It is pathetic and only going to get worse after all the revenue loss from the coronavirus crisis.

For your convenience of course....

We were on the same 11-day out of San Juan 1/26/20 - 2/6/20.  I agree with all of your points above.  Out of the 11 days, I had just one good meal.  Buffet food was lacking in taste and quality.  Some times it was a zoo in the buffet.

Slots were very, very tight.   For a ship this huge, it was missing a bank of elevators in the middle.  Wasted so much time waiting for one.  We have been on 49 cruises.  This was our third on NCL and WILL be our last on NCL.

The only reason I was on the Epic for the Jan 26th cruise was the ports.  Although I'm Platinum level this will be my last cruise with NCL.  They have cut back so far on service, amenities, and food quality that cruising with them is like staying at a very cheap all-inclusive hotel.

NCL unveiled new MDR dinner menus in July. Yes, not very good in my opinion. Yes, the old dinner features at O'Sheehans disappeared fleetwide, but on our Breakaway cruise in January, they had reappeared. No more prime rib or shrimp and ribs, but they had pepper steak, bourbon chicken, fried chicken, chicken paella, etc. Dinner menu is a valid complaint in my opinion. No problem with the breakfast menu.

I thought entertainment was good. I went to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, expecting to leave early, but I actually loved it.

We were on the Epic out of San Juan the week before Christmas.  There must have been a complete staff and food turnover because we were pleased.  Staff seemed helpful and friendly.  Dining rooms and specialties good.  Can’t comment on the buffet because we avoid it on all ships.  The Epic is our least favorite ship but we chose it for the itinerary and some bonus days in Puerto Rico.  We too are Plat+ and.
