Back from the Radiance 1/29 -2/5

Recommended Posts

We booked this cruise 5 days before sailing and only took only two carryons. No dressup clothes so we ate either in the windjammer or Sea View.

Stayed at the Soffitel Miami pre cruise and loved it. (price line $70.) (Thank you Andrew!) Got to the pier around noon, checked in and found out we were upgraded from inside to outside. Cabin #4000 as far forward as you could go and next to the crews quarters. Bad cabin for me because of motion sickness. Of course NO CABINS AVAILABLE has been brain washed into every person at the pursers desk. We had just been on this ship 7 weeks prior so I went to see the Loyalty Ambassodor and she got us moved to center ship deck 4 outside. Perfect.

I can't answer any questions about excursions or shows because we didn't do any. There was a violin player in the centrum every night and he was fabulous.

Willie was the conceirge and he seemed much more relaxed than usual. Really nice guy. Evening coctails were from 5:30 to 8:30 (in DEC. it was 5 to 8:30) Met great people in the conceirge and feel it is a great amenity to have this perk.

We are not smokers so the Radiance was our first choice. They strive to be as smoke free as possible but do have designated areas for smokers.

Weather was great except for an occasional shower that didn't last long.

Food in the windjammer was good and it was sooooo nice not to have to "dress" for dinner. Many of the dining room menu items were on the buffet and you could always have a steak or chicken breast made to order.

We informed the head waiter we would not be using our dining room table. We tipped the windjammer staff very well as they did a great job, but did not tip the dining room.

This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. Express checkout was a wiz - off the ship by 7:30am flight home was 11:10 from FLL and had plenty of time.

We are again, booked b2b for Dec. 06 on the Radiance.

Any questions? Mimi (wife of a booze brother)

This is one of my favorite ships! Glad you had a great time. Willie was so helpful to us last June. I really got addicted to the cappacino machine... I like the windjammer too. The selection is great and I don't have to dress up! We are taking the kids in March and will probably spend our time there.

You mention that Radiance strives to be smoke-free. Are there certain bars that are smoke free? Is there a designated area or side of the ship when outside?

We are going on the Radiance next month. From what it sounds like, it is a great ship for a 1st timer.

It's interesting, because you will often see people posting about ships having ultra-smokey Schooner bars. On Radiance, the Schooner Bar is non-smoking.

They really do section off specific smoking areas (ie: outer edge of starboard side of the pool is for smokers...all else non-smoking). About the only place that ever seemed smokey is the Casino.

we are sailing on the Radiance march 5 just wondering was the seaview cafe menu still the same? And do you have to pay to use the jaccuzzi and saunas in the spa area. Sorry one more question how much were the drinks of the day. Thx

Mimi, glad you had a great cruise!:) In 3 cruises we have never had dinner in the Windjammer but are considering it for our Apr. cruise on Radiance. A lot of the threads I've read mention it is a nice relaxing way to have supper and the atmosphere was great (nice tablecloths, lighting, ambience etc.) What was your experience on Radiance. Thank you...
