First time on Grand Celebration in June

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, this will be my first time on the BCCL and going on the Grand Celebration in June.  I was just curious about this cruise line, I know this ship is actually an older Carnival ship that they retired and bought.  I saw some videos on Youtube and it really doesn't look that bad.  I actually decided to book this because my partner and I booked a 3-day cruise on RC Independence of the Seas right after this one, (actually my first time on RC too) and thought 3 days just wasn't enough.  For $415 total for both of us, it was worth it.  I am going to go on with an open mind, but the videos I saw doesnt look terrible at all.  What are everyone's thoughts?  Thanks 🙂

So you have already cruised. So I’m not sure what you are expecting and I’m not sure what you mean by terrible. I’ve been on the Celebration at least ten times and had good experiences every time I’ve cruised with this line. I’ve also cruise with carnival and Norwegian and the carnival cruises were hit and miss depending on the ship. The Conquest was great but the Victory not so much. Every time I cruise I book an Owners suite or Veranda Suite with concierge. So I’ve never been disappointed. So if you book a cheapie cabin you are going to get what you pay for. I also know age comes into play with having a good time. If you’re looking for all the fun stuff that a Royal Carribbean ship has, you will be disappointed. With that said their alcoholic drinks are strong and they have all kinds of great music and a small casino if you like to gamble. You will also see a very well kept clean ship. I hope I answered some of your questions.

Awesome.  Thanks for your response.  I just saw some reviews where people complained a lot about the ship.  I booked an Oceanview room.  I don't care about all the fun stuff royal has, I mostly have cruised Carnival and have been happy.  This will be my first time on BPCL and and Royal. I'm doing a back to back.  Seems like I will enjoy this cruise.  Do you recommend getting the 10 drinks? I heard they have specials and half price drinks too.

If you are a drinker I would recommend the drink coupons if you drink. And you can share the coupons unlike on other cruise lines. I would also suggest the concierge that contains quite a few benefits. Enjoy, hope you have good weather because it can get pretty bumpy out there.

It's an older ship but she's been kept up nicely.  I cruised on her in 92 then again with BPCL last year.  The staff was amazing, the food was good (much to my surprise) and the drinks were strong.   She doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the new mega ships but for a short cruise, we had a great time.

We always take the OV cabin right next to where to get on. The ship looks great. The rooms are a bit dated but nice. You cannot expect a cruise like the big guys new ships. Food is fine, the drinks are usually strong, the entertainment is good. It is a very nice get away at a low cost. Just enjoy it and have a great time.
