Sistahs Cruise: Bliss NY to Bahamas, Feb 23-March 1

Recommended Posts

When we first arrived at the Villas we were told the buffet would be serving lunch around noon and that someone would notify us when it was ready. The day went on as we were lost in our own world of pina coladas, Moet, sun, sand and beach and we suddenly realized we were the only ones on the beach. Where did everyone go? What were we missing? Then it dawned on me that they must all be eating! Hey!

So we wandered over to the buffet. In one of the press releases I had read it said lobster tails would be included in the Cove buffet. Not. But there was a nice selection. I don't even remember what we ate but we fueled up because, cruise.

Late afternoon when we (again) were the only ones left we decided it must be time to " sob " leave. There was a vehicle around so we gathered our stuff and trudged over for a ride back to the tender. OMG, the LINE once we got there! My picture does not in any way do it justice. It literally had to be 1/2 mile long. We walked for five minutes just trying to find the end of it!

We FINALLY reached the end of the line. Suddenly I saw a guy walking around with  sign that read "HAVEN". Oh thank you, yay. We scurried up to him and were brought to the front. I'm sure all the non-Haven folk loved THAT. I know I would have been grumbling if I had not been in the Haven and saw all those "stuck-up" Haven people being brought to the front. But it was what it was.

We boarded the tender and back to the Bliss we went.

The thing in the background of the last shot is the biplane I believe. Also threw one in there of Sistah showing off the fact that she is thinner than I am.

The zipline. Thanks autocorrect...

What a great day, the villa looks lovely.

Very nice pictures.

I am not a big fan of HC even though we had a cabana last time but now I want to try a villa. Maybe I can afford it, maybe not, we'll see.

Jealous but glad you had a great time! ☺

It was Great Stirrup Cay, just to set it straight for anyone else reading this (I know I just told you that on the Tribe thread).

Looks like you had a great time, we were on GSC the same day.  We just went for the beach, got some sun and a dip in the clear but cold water, grabbed some lunch and sunned some more.

A great day, feeling sorry for all who have now had their cruises canceled, this was our honeymoon (13 years delayed) and even though we live in NY about 1 hr from the terminal the other arrangements we had to make started long before the departure date.

Glad we did it when we did, been talking about it for years !!

I know what you mean. I have felt such mixed feelings posting all this...but I am glad you were able to do the cruise. Happy (belated) honeymoon!!

Thanks for this.  I kept looking at the pictures and wondering why I couldn’t see the biplane. 🤔 That beach looks spectacular.  If I ever make it back to GSC, note to self: don’t wait for last call.

Shows (Six and Jersey Boys)

The Concierge met up with all Haven peeps going to a show and “escorted” us down. Which was a nice touch, but not necessary once you knew where the “special” seating was. We never actually sat in the specific Haven area (the left side, about halfway down), but always on the outside of the middle section nearby (so we could still be within reach of the drink servers tending to the Haven section). Technically a better view from the middle, although at both shows I (but not my sister) had someone sitting in front of me whose head was at exactly the wrong height for the height of my head (do heads even have heights?) and were therefore right in the middle of my line of vision. I kept having to lean my head to the right or left in an attempt to see around that big orb in front of me blocking my view. And then I started thinking the guy behind me then had to keep switching the position of his own orb, and the person behind him, and the person behind the person behind him, until visions of the entire back half of the theater being a blanket of orbs moving back and forth in waves--due to ME--kinda gave me the creeps. But I do digress.

Jersey Boys: Anyway, we totally enjoyed both shows. Everyone seems to like The Jersey Boys (it is hard not to enjoy that energy, vocal harmony, and especially the lead singer’s voice). And we really did too. Since I never got to see it in NY, I was especially happy to be there.

Six: I had heard yays, nays and “mehs” about Six. Someone commented in a review that it helps to know a bit of the history. So I researched it a bit before the cruise and got the general low-down on the King and his various wives. I would say that does indeed add to the enjoyment. I also think that, although many guys seem to enjoy it, it does have kind of a “women power” thing going on, a supportive “sistahood!” vibe, that women respond to. The costumes were also especially cool in Six (in our esteemed sistahood opinion).

No, I am not going away just yet. A few more tidbits …

Towel animals:

Although this no longer seems to be a hot topic here on CC, I will add my experience with it to the mix. I love towel animals. I don’t care if I only get a couple, in fact I’d be fine with that. But some of them have been so creative they have really made my day. You know when a room steward is into it (I just don’t buy the whole “they are so overworked/underpaid they shouldn’t have to!” thing). So knowing that they have been told to not do them anymore of their own accord, but will if asked, I decided I would ask for just one or two.

Once on board, honestly I just forgot! I didn’t remember again until the last night, when our lovely Stewardess Jennie left me a towel animal crab on my bed. It was simple, no decorations, no paper eyes, etc. But it perked me right up and made me smile. When I saw her later I thanked her with great enthusiasm. She was pleased, said no problem she enjoys it, and went on about her business in other cabins.

About 5 minutes later she was back. And she talked for quite some time--of her own volition and with great passion--about the whole towel animal thing. Clearly it was on her mind and meant a lot to her. She told me she had been disappointed that I had not asked for any because she LOVES doing them. She totally is into it and goes above and beyond to have them in “sketches”. Like a towel man hanging out on a bed, with glasses on, reading a book. A towel animal interacting with items left out by the passenger, etc. I told her the sentiment bandied about among CC members that it’s extra work for them, and she would have none of it! She loves doing them, it means a lot to her to please her “people”—she wants to KEEP doing them. But she has to be asked. I just think that is stupid. Here you have a top-performing room steward who is great at what she does and handles some of the most expensive cabins, and she can’t do something she loves that a number of passengers WANT but no longer ask for because they have been brow-beaten into feeling “selfish” in wanting them.

Love the towel animals but like you, Iit doesn't ruin my cruise if I don't get one.

(And of course I'm following this thread too! 😁)

Yes, it surely did not ruin mine either. I prolly would have remembered months later that I didn't get any!

Funny you should say that (remembering months later that you didn’t get any) because on my last cruise, there was no towel animal on the first night (this was on Carnival). I mentioned to the room steward that I missed the towel animal, he smiled and nodded.....and I had a towel animal every night after that 😀

The best towel "animal" we have ever seen was on Carnival Horizon. Our steward made a man sitting on our toilet! With the lights turned off it was a very creepy sight but we had a good laugh about it and our steward was so pleased when we thanked her. I think you are right that some enjoy making them.

I have always tipped the first day and asked for Towel Animals, and I haven't cruised since they were an ask. I know they take time, but they're one of my very favorite things. They're unique and remind me that I really am on vacation. My stewards didn't seem to mind making them either. I'm happy that this is still the case for some ❤

Did you happen to get a picture of that? Would love to see it 😀
