For the past 5 or 6 weeks, I've gotten weekly price drops for our Aug 10 Bermuda cruise.  Each of them in the $25-$30 per cabin range.

Anyone else getting this? Just wondering if it were our specific cruise, or if it were for all sailings.  The timing would seem to indicate this was because of corona virus fears and such, but not if it were just our sailing.

Our November cruise fell by $20 last week but when I spoke to our PCP he said the deal was different. If he booked us under the slightly lower price we would loose our onboard credit which is greater than the price drop. We’ll use the credit.

Our October Bermuda cruise is down $68 now but I can’t price match to it because I booked with a $200 OBC fare code and I’d lose that. Even with the $50 OBC fare rate I’m at $118 so I’ve gotta wait for it to go below the $200.

Yeah, you do have to be careful about that.

For all our rates, we kept the $200 obc/cabin.

The only loss we had with the price drops is we got put into a lower tier for perks from our TA.  But, the price drop was more than the decrease in perk.

Is your OBC the $200 OBC from the Mardi Gras cancellations or the $200 ES Carnival MasterCard rate code? Or just OBC from a TA?

I had a 40./3 person cabin price drop that included 50 OBC, on 1/30.

Another 20 drop on 2/7 still included 50 OBC.

Another 20 drop on 2/21. OBC still included.

This is a spring 2021western Caribbean itinerary.

I have a Sept 2020 cruise, cabin category sold out, thus no price drops for me.

And a March 2022 Sailabration booked just recently, no price movement.

The cruise for later this month has dropped considerably over the last couple of months, but I booked it when the itinerary was first posted and paid well under today's price, even with the recent reductions.

Our March cruise has kept going up slowly under my husbands VIP code. Through mine however there’s a deal making it $1800 cheaper. Hard pill to swallow there!! We booked under his casino offer. 🥺

Ouch!  You aren't allowed to change it?

The $200 OBC is from a rate code, but not the MasterCard one.  However, I have never seen it at carnival.com, only through my TA.  The actual fare I'm paying (before the obc) is not one that I see at carnival.com at all, either.

Nope, they will not let us change it as it’s after final payment and a casino offer. The offer was originally on an old VIP number (they created two for me for some reason) so I got emailed the offer that’s when I first saw it. They said that number should have been deleted and I should have never gotten it so they gave us $600 OBC which was nice. However when they combined my VIP numbers my current number still has this deal. We paid $3200 (with vacation protection and tips) for a balcony and I can get the same thing for $1500 with vacation protection and tips under my number. What a difference!!

My RCCL cruise out of Galveston in May for a Jr Suite has gone down well over $600.  My Carnival cruise next month has gone up and my MSC cruise in July was the same as when I booked but now YC is sold out.

We sail out March 2nd on the Sunshine.  We booked August of last year and rates have gone down significantly.  Had them do the price protection and got 400 dollars in OBC just last night.

I book my cruises as soon as the itineraries are released, so I almost never get any price matches. And on the rare occasion that I can, it’s just to get some OBC that a rate might be offering. I find that prices go up after itineraries are released, and while they do come back down at some point, they never come down to the price I booked them under.

The price of my 4 day Inspiration cruise in March dropped $120 (for 2) since final payment was due. Booked military rate not early saver.  I guess I am out of luck.  Booking is a form of gambling.  Book early saver, you can get credit for price drops, but if you cancel you will lose.  Book a regular rate and the price drops after final payment, you get nothing, but could have cancel early if needed.

I am new to Carnival, Is the above correct?

An earlier post said if the price drops after final you can try calling and they might be "nice" and give you some credit?

Yes that is correct. Once final payment is made. You basically are finished with any price changes. As I mentioned. A real good TA in many cases can do something. if they cannot not. Then that is final. Booking direct with any cruise line I do not suggest for many reasons.

Question about price drop policy (without early saver) - Can you upgrade your room if the price is the same or more than what you paid?
