Non suite guests sailing with suite guests

This program is at least 9 months old. Anyone experience overcrowding in Luminae?  I haven't.

It is limited to 10 people, per cruise, from what I was told. They start at the top (Iconic Suite, Penthouse) and go down the list contacting cruisers who have linked reservations, until the ten spots have been taken.  It is not offered on every cruise.

We travel with our (now)16 year old son. The last 2 cruises were in an M-class Royal Suite. He generally only came to Luminae for dinner, and of course, there are some nights we opted for included specialty dining (freeing up space in Luminae!). We have 2 future cruises booked, one on the Reflection and one on the Edge. We chose to book a Sky Suite with a connecting cabin for our son, giving us better sleeping privacy for all PLUS an additional full bathroom. He will likely continue to “do his own thing” for most meals BUT I would be sorely disappointed if he could not join us in Luminae for SOME dinners, even if at extra cost. If that option was taken away, I would immediately cancel our Sky Suite and go for a non-suite booking—it just would not be worth the extra cost of a suite. As it is, I plan to try the 4 main dining rooms on the Edge rather than specialty dining for 4 of the 7 nights, and we booked a 4 night specialty dining package on the Reflection ( totally spoiled by Royal Suite😆), so no worries about overcrowding in Luminae. He’ll also likely prefer to “hang with his friends” rather than coming to the Retreat, so that is not likely to contribute to overcrowding there.  I’d rather see Celebrity maintain some flexibility and find out if it really does cause problems to allow non-suite guests to join those in suites when reservations are linked. Policies can always be adjusted if the doomsday predictions of cheapening the suite experience are realized.

Would be in a similar position for our upcoming Alaska cruise.  My family is in a Celebrity Suite and my parents are in a Sky Suite.  But my brother can only afford an Oceanview Stateroom (and we are putting my older son in there because of double occupancy).  My mother really wanted to go on Celebrity in at least a suite, but initially I had concerns about the cost and being able to dine together - but once I researched that you can invite a paid guest to dinner we booked.

I mapped out our meals and the two of them will join us as paid Luminae guests for dinner one night -- maybe twice tops over the seven nights.  Granted we have a late first night departure and two more late port departures, so if we had earlier departures it might be another night or two.  But we will try the MDR at least once and probably just do the buffet when we are getting back to the ship at 7:30.  And most nights my son assigned to our suite will have already eaten elsewhere and be in the kids club by the time the adults eat, making my brother net neutral even if we are paying for him.

And if the full offer somehow makes its way down to us we will probably pass.  I agree it is a good deal but I think a lot of the linked reservations involve kids/families and will not view full access as needed (otherwise they would have booked another suite or higher in the first place).

I don't think the cruisers above need to worry about not being allowed into Luminae. First, it is Celebrity 's policy that they dont break up families. So children,  siblings, parent (in my case), I think will continue to be fine. The program doesn't make financial sense to me - you need to eat every meal in Luminae and take advantage of the other perks of the program. You are far better off paying as you go for the occasional meal.

I bet there are more Zeniths and casino "high rollers" in the Retreat and Luminae than you'll ever see from this program.

Don't bet on it!  The facts are...

  • Zenith members of Captain's Club and "[very] high rollers" from the Blue Chip Club are entitled to use the Retreat Lounge [Michael's Club on those ships which have not yet been revolutionized] regardless of stateroom category...  That said, Zenith members also have a Premium Alcohol Package as part of the loyalty program and those who are "very high rollers" also have a Classic or Premium Alcohol Package based upon play level in Blue Chip Club...  With both options, there is no particular reason or incentive to hang out in the Retreat Lounge or Michael's Club unless sailing with friends who are staying in a suite and do not have a beverage package...
  • Zenith members and Blue Chip "high rollers" do not have access to Luminae or, on those ships that now have one, to the Retreat Sundeck unless they happen to be staying in a suite...

There are not a whole lot of Zenith members [some cruises have none, some have a handful or two with fingers left over, Transatlantic cruises may have about twenty]…  There are far fewer Blue Chip "[very] high rollers" than there are Zenith members...

The guest categories that you cite are not particularly contributing to crowds in The Retreat/Michael's Club and are not contributing at all--by virtue of loyalty or casino status--to crowding in Luminae or on the Retreat Sundeck...

Great deal but will lead to  suite area crowding and ultimately spillover into BLU

hcat- I'm not sure this follows.  Why would a few suite guests who would not be happy with the theoretical Luminae overcrowding then choose to go to an overcrowded Blu ?

The Retreat concierge sent an email over the weekend answering a couple questions .We are on the 3/08 Edge sailing.

DW and I are in a Celebrity Suite while son and family are in Concierge Class.

My original question was how much would it be for them to dine with us in Luminae several nights.

Her response was $30/pp for dinner.

She also sent a new program that Celebrity just introduced that would allow someone sailing with a suite guest to have full access to the Retreat and Luminae just like a suite guest .

The cost is $413 pp for a 7 night cruise.

We will not be taking advantage of this new program as they will be sailing with their two children and it would not make sense.

This  may be old news but it was new to me.

$413 pp is almost twice the cost for someone to date in Luminae if you paid on a day by day basis.  $30  x  7 days = $210!  What is ~X~ thinking??  Oh, never mind, it is Celebrity math!!!

I believe $30 is just for dinner.  I read somewhere on here is is $10/$20/$30 for breakfast/lunch/dinner.  So about $60 per day if you took all the meals there.
