Another itinerary change for the 2020 GWV

Recommended Posts

The captain announced that Sri Lanka has closed their ports to all cruise ships and there were visa issues for India so we will not go to either.

The schedule now stands as:

Darwin March 16

Broome March 19

Exmouth March 21

Geraldton March 23

Freemantle March 24/25

Reunion Island April 2

I feel good about those itineraries.  One question though.  I think I remember Captain Jonathan chose to do one more world cruise based in part on the itinerary.  Were any of the cancelled ports among those that influenced him to do one more?

Good luck with Reunion.  Sun Princess didn't fare so well there this past week.

I hope you (and we) get there.  I think one difference is that Sun Princess visited Singapore within the last couple of weeks.  That may have influenced Reunion's decision.

Sorry to hear that the ship couldn't get a block visa for India.

Not surprising, but disappointing for the Amsterdam's guests.

I visited 3 of these ports:  Freemantle (Perth), Darwin, and Broome.  Good ports with sites which should be of interest to guests.  Darwin, particularly, since it was the only Australian city attracted during WW II.  Interesting museum visit is what I recall.  (Along with the heat and humdity!)

Thanks again for this update. I left a message already but I guessing was an old update.
My mother and stepfather are on the cruise and they are not too tech savvy, so updates are most appreciated.
Has there been any talk of the cruise being cut short? There seem to be fewer and fewer places to go.
