March 7, 2020

Dear Guest:

We hope that you’ve been enjoying your time on Celebrity Constellation®. At this time, we would like to provide you with an update on the status of our itinerary.

As we monitor global developments related to the coronavirus, our priority remains the health and safety of our guests and crew, as well as providing you an amazing vacation experience. Each morning our executive team reviews daily updates from the CDC and WHO regarding the situation.

We have now been informed that the Government of India will no longer allow entry to cruise ships. At this time, we are working with government and local officials to possibly extend our time in Mumbai as our calls to Goa and Cochin will need to be cancelled. We are also working with the UAE to move up our call to Abu Dhabi and secure an extra day in Dubai. As soon as we receive confirmation on our new itinerary, we will provide you with an immediate update.

As compensation for the multiple modifications that have been made from our originally scheduled itinerary and the disruption to your vacation, all guests will be provided with a 100% cruise refund.

Additionally, guests with Shore Excursions in Goa and Cochin, India, booked through Celebrity Cruises, will automatically receive a refund to their onboard account. Guests booked on independent tours will be provided a complimentary call from the Guest Relations Desk, Deck 3, in order to contact their tour operators.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this very fluid situation. Please be assured we are fully focused on protecting the health and safety of our guests and crew. We will continue to do all possible to ensure you enjoy the rest of your cruise vacation and that you have a safe return home. Sincerely, Captain Michael D. Karatzas, Master Celebrity Constellation

Sincerely,

Captain Michael D. Karatzas,

Master

Celebrity Constellation

Passengers been told they can only stay on board till Tuesday.  Ship is not able to return to UAE.

Where are you getting this information?    The press release says Ships will not be able to enter Indian Ports.... at least my reading is there is no mention of UAE.

The PDF file they posted is from Yesterday.   I'm guessing that was yesterday's news, and today the UAE denied them entry as well.

The Constellation got into Mumbai  yesterday morning. The press release closing the ports  was issued at 1545 yesterday afternoon.

Dry dock -  Which was scheduled for April 15.

Ports continue to close. Italy out as cannot board passengers from Italy. Does France banning gatherings of over 1000 ban ships?

You can understand the ports closing: they do not want any further pressure put on their own health services, never mind having the added stress of sorting another 3000+ bodies. I would be very surprised if any mainland European countries would accept them in the current climate.

Baltic cruises will be more or less out too as Russia has stated a 14 day quarantine for those visitors coming from some European countries to Moscow, watch this being extended to other cities.

“The U.S. State Department has issued an updated travel warning for American citizens considering travel by cruise ship.

"U.S. citizens, particularly travelers with underlying health conditions, should not travel by cruise ship," the State Department has said in a statement posted to its website on Sunday, March 8.

"CDC notes increased risk of infection of COVID-19 in a cruise ship environment. In order to curb the spread of COVID-19, many countries have implemented strict screening procedures that have denied port entry rights to ships and prevented passengers from disembarking. In some cases, local authorities have permitted disembarkation but subjected passengers to local quarantine procedures. While the U.S. government has evacuated some cruise ship passengers in recent weeks, repatriation flights should not be relied upon as an option for U.S. citizens under the potential risk of quarantine by local authorities.

"This is a fluid situation. CDC notes that older adults and travelers with underlying health issues should avoid situations that put them at increased risk for more severe disease. This entails avoiding crowded places, avoiding non-essential travel such as long plane trips, and especially avoiding embarking on cruise ships."

We were on the 4/1 cruise. Last week they changed the final stop from Rome to Barcelona.

Thanks for confirming that. As Spain’s numbers rise too, it’s quite possible they could start refusing the ships like many others are doing in Europe.
