Q: COVID cancelling..how does FCC work?

Question for anyone who’s cancelled with this new COVID policy..

Our Cruise is on the Panorama starting 3/14...

If we cancel now; it says we can rebook and get a FCC for the non-refundable cancellation fee...

Im taking this to mean:

I can rebook the same cruise for March 2021, PLUS they’ll give me a FCC voucher for $2400 (amount I paid in full for this cruise)

Anyone know if I’m reading that correctly??

So Id literally be getting the same cruise next year PLUS a free one?

No you’d get the amount of the current cruise applied to the next one.  Not two free cruises

I'm not sure what you mean. I havent read ccl's policy, I'm booked rcl, but we get refunded tax and port fees to each person. Let's say you are 3 to the cabin. Each person gets a fcc for his cruise fare to be used on another cruise.

 

If you booked and paid deposit for a cruise a year from now, for these people, the fcc could be applied to the balance. So depends what the price is a year from now if the fcc would cover it.

Ok; I was just confused by the AND portion...because it says:

”you can rebook your cruise AND get a FCC for the non-refundable”.

so the better play, monetarily, would be to take the cruise with the $200 added OBC.

The issue some on rcl are having is for instance a grandson is booked this time but wouldnt be booked next time, but each pax gets a fcc issued in his name on the booking. 

 

They wish the whole fcc went to the person who paid the current booking. 

 

I'd be curious how carnival is handling the cancellations. I'm watching rates on carnival to see if I can squeeze in one on them too.

That is our issue too. We have 16 of us going on a cruise May 21 out of Charleston. Our final payment date is March 22, and we can get a FCC by March 31. If we reschedule, at least 4 of of our group can't do it again my March 31, 2021. 

 

So the FCC goes to the person only? If that is the case, as bad as I had to jump the gun so soon, I think we are better off not paying our final payment and losing the $50 deposit than risk losing $450 a person the the FCC that may not be able to get used.

That's what I was asking, if carnival is doing FCC in the name of the booked cruisers, like RCL is doing.

 

Several on the RCL boards have complained. One paid for a retiring housekeeper, who a year from now wouldnt be living there, she is moving and wouldnt be cruising again.

 

If the cruise lines give FCC, that insures you book again in the next year, at least per the fcc terms with royal, so they arent out anything.

 

In my case, I'd have to book a higher rate a year from now. It will push prices up. Maybe carnival has no pricing power, but rcl does. 

 

I'm planning on going unless the cruise doesnt go. I dont want a future fcc.

 

Im watching fares on carnival but will be very careful what I book.

,The future cruise credit is only for the non refundable portion of your cruise fare. For a 7 day cruise, even though final payment is 90 days out the non refundable portion does not change until 55 days out when it becomes only 50% refundable. So from final payment until 55 days it is still only the deposit amount that is non refundable. Shorter cruises have different terms, you can look that up on the website.

I'm pretty sure with the new cancel policy you get back all but the taxes and port fees and things you prepaid which are refunded to your card.  The cruise fare in its entirety is the fcc.

 

i.e. the deposit portion is refundable as part of your cruise fare and part of the fcc.

 

The old cancellation terms dont apply.

That is correct, I was referring to the old cancellation policy as that determines how much is fully refundable and how much is applied as a FCC.
 

I cancelled my April 4th sailing last Friday and rebooked for July 25th. Because I was in the 55 to 30 day window window my cruise fare was 50% refundable. They applied the 50% non refundable cruise fare as a credit on the new sailing and refunded the other 50% of the cruise fare plus taxes, port fees to my CC. I also had to pay the deposit for the new cruise but that will be covered with the refund.

We are on a 4 day, with final payment due March 22 for our May 21 sailing, due 60 days before sailing (before they recently changed it to 75days) The only thing that we have paid is the deposit. Our deposit is a non refundable casino offer. You are saying that if I call to cancel now, then I should get the $50 deposit per person back as FCC per each person? I am just trying to partially understand this before i try calling and spend potential hours on the phone.

Yes, that is my understanding how it works. It is also possible to cancel online, the FCC Cruise Credit is supposed to be automatically posted to your account. I called Friday because I wanted to rebook for July at the same time.
 

It took me a couple of hours to get through and then over an hour to get it done once I was connected with an agent. You have until March 22 to get it done, I wouldn’t want to call today, it’s crazy with the new travel warning.

Just a FYI   Your non refundable deposit is part of the FCC if you choose to cancel.

One cruise I cancelled only had non refundable deposit paid on it and I got al of it in an FCC
