Set to cruise 3/28.  We paid 1700 for our cruise for 2.  It is now 1520. Used a travel agent who says they haven't been able to get in contact with Carnival since Friday.(However people we know have gotten through and got additional OBC above the 200 for keeping their booking & they promised to get back with me Monday regardless but did not.........)  Considering cancelling and giving up our current OBC of 525(which we got from Carnival mastercard promo, travel agency obc and Carnival money to keep the cruise, and I'm assuming none will transfer).  We can rebook with our daughter and her casino rate in a balcony for 822 total for 3 people.  She isn't sure she can get off work, if she doesn't go can we keep her rate and just pay for her tips etc?  Doing it this way we'd still save over $350 plus get a first time balcony instead of our current inside room.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense.  Any idea how long if I cancel today till I can rebook with the future cruise credit?

We took advantage of the unbelievable deals that Carnival is offering....canceled our cruise with Holland America and rebooked with a Casino offer from Carnival.   The whole cost of the Carnival cruise (including gratutities, a balcony room and transfer from airport) was LESS than the taxes and port fees that was refunded from Holland America.  And here is the cherry on top,  with our offer from Carnival we also received OBC and "drinks on us"    Alot of our friends and family think we are crazy for going on a cruise but being a Hoosier from Indiana I am ready for some fun and sun!!!

Bottom line maryhou it's worth a call to check it out!!

I got through to Carnival in less than 25 minutes last night. Inquired about upgrading from Spa interior to Havana cabin. She was quoting the same prices as Carnival website. I would try them very early or late at night.

Hello. We sail on 3/22 out of Baltimore and I still haven't received the cancellation email yet. I booked in early January directly on Carnival website.  I actually got an email yesterday from them saying it's 12 days till we sail and they're excited to see me. We are not regular cruisers, and I think we'd like to cancel and take the future credit. We're torn and not afraid of the virus, but I am afraid of cancelled ports of call and any type of quarantine situation. So, my question is ... is there any way for me to cancel this cruise other than waiting on hold for two hours? It seems the email provides instructions? Can anyone share that?

Thanks so much for any help that you can share! It's much appreciated!

Within the email/letter from Carnival there was a link to cancel and re-book, the form which I attached will ask for your old info and the new booking info which you won't have if you haven't deposited a new cruise.

https://www.carnival.com/request-forms/reimbursement-form.aspx

Several people have said you can cancel online through your cruise documents, however people seem to be turned away once it says that the penalty for cancelling is the total of your cruise costs. From what others who have done it said, it knows to apply the amount to a FCC and the non eligible items to your credit card/other form of payment.

Just be aware you have until 3 days before your cruise to do this, I personally wasn't ready to book so I went through a PVP that I had used in the past and he took care of it via emai.

Post by LaRue1975 on page 35 of this thread is how to cancel online. You do have to call to rebook, and I would print or screenshot original booking before cancelling just in case.

Thank you so much! Finally figured out how to find the "Cancel" button! So if I'm not ready to book my next cruise and I just hit that cancel button, will there be a credit in my account ... so I can call back at a later time, when it's less of a ***** show, and have it applied to my new booking? I'm really just trying to avoid the 2+ hour hold times right now.

I cancelled yesterday and my FCC was available right then, I wasn't ready to book so I am holding off to see what's available down the road.

I have no idea if this applies to carnival or not. But some cruise lines have instituted a policy where the FCC is only valid for one sailing. So with this policy if you canceled and got 1700 FCC; and used it to rebook the cabin for $800 you would simply lose the difference. This policy makes sense to keep people from doing what you are proposing. Again, I do not know if this carnival is using this policy but I would certianly want to be sure you could you the extra FCC savings for a different cruise before I attempted it.

The casino rate is person-specific. It cannot be transferred.

you could have her be a no-show and they would not reprice the room. she would only get a refund of port fees and taxes (and prepaid gratuities)

You are a star - thanks for all of your advice.  I am just about to go through the book/deposit on new cruise, cancel old cruise online, then reimbursement form.  I will post again and let you all know how it goes 🙂

What about cancelling excursions for an upcoming cruise? Is it possible to do this for a full refund?

Normally, you are able to cancel a ship's excursion up to 24 hrs. prior to the excursion date.  So, it should not be a problem to cancel any excursions and get a refund back to the original method of payment.

We want to cancel our upcoming cruise on April 23rd and have Carnival travel insurance.  The final date to pay or cancel has passed.  With COVID-19, we have a doctor's statement for my husband's diabetes (chronic condition).  Should I call the insurer or Carnival?  Carnival has not answered their phones for the last 3 days... I don't mean long holding times, I mean they have a recording that they have "high volume calling and technical problems, please try your call later" recording, then hang up.  This is the first time this has ever happened.  Also, most cruise lines have changed or relaxed their cancellation policy but I see nothing on the Carnival website.  Any suggestions on how to proceed other than keep calling them.  I would like to cancel but can't if you can't reach them.

Has the normal date to pay or cancel passed, or has it also passed under the new Coronavirus guidelines? Did you pay in full, or not?

From what I understand, if you are still in the window to cancel under these special circumstances (not your husband's, but the policy in general due to the virus), it will be applied as a future cruise credit and you can rebook for a later date.

If you got cancel for any reason insurance (you did not say what type), you can cancel through the insurance for 75% of what you paid, not 100%. Calling Carnival is not the best approach right now if it can be avoided. It contributes to the problems they are having.

My daughters senior class has a cruise booked for May this year and they did not but insurance. At this point the trip is still a go because there is roughly $60k that could be lost. Rescheduling for a later date is not an option. I guess the best how is that the cruise is canceled and then Carnival would give cash refund?

Graduation is a week after the cruise end so hopefully no quarantine.

Has anyone canceled via Costco? I did it all online yesterday and I got immediate confirmation of refund but it only was for one room (i have 2). Just curious if maybe it’s taking time but it’s strange I would get one and not the other. I know both are canceled bc they aren’t even in my account for carnival or Costco. I’m wanting to rebook but not until I know both refunds and credits are there properly.

I did not understand your sentence. But, there are currently no cash refunds if that is what you are asking.

Ohhh wait, are you saying if Carnival cancels the cruise? That may be a different story but no answer on how for sure that would be handled since it hasn't happened yet.

We called and cancelled 1 cruise and booked another on the same call. The lady said she applied the FCC during that conversation.  Well in about 48 hours the final payment on the new cruise we booked  dropped the amount of the FCC so that's how we knew it was applied.
