Hello,

Yesterday, Friday 5th June, I decided to go back to post #1 and read all the postings in one go. Some, whilst I did not understand them at first sight,  were explained by subsequent comments. This one, however, remains a mystery - can someone explain it please?

Regards,

Cublet

My mom grew up on the beach in Malibu, CA. One of her neighbors had a dog names Shark, and would let it run on the beach. She sometimes yelled, "Come on back, Shark, you're getting too far out!"

It was over 30 years ago, back when I stilled lived in Brooklyn, New York.  Son and his wife had just returned from Florida and had their luggage in my living room.  All of a sudden, there was this HUGE “roach” on my couch.  I tried to get it but it went under a throw pillow.  I lifted the pillow and tried to brush the bug onto the floor so I could squash it.  IT FLEW AWAY!!!

My whole family runs from the room screaming

IT FLIES!!!” 😱😱😱

We had all experienced regular roaches at some point but that was our first encounter with Florida’s infamous Palmetto bug.  My brave family would not return to the living room and elected me to be the one to save them from what they were certain was imminent death. ☠️🤣

Luckily, Palmetto bugs don’t take up residence inside houses and, after 28 years in Florida, I’m an old pro at “euthanizing” any that might accidentally stray into my home.

When I first moved to Miami, I didn't know about palmetto bugs (giant cockroaches to everyone else!).  I trashed my apartment trying to capture one that dared crawl across the floor in front of me.....just as I had it cornered.......it flew across the room!  I had to start all over again. For several days, my apartment looked like it had been ransacked ....just sayin'.

I was expecting some questions about this, but apparently everyone knows Erwin Schrödinger‘s cat Paradox gedankenexperiment and its contributions to Quantum Superposition theory.

You can thank The Big Bang Theory for that.
