Our Prime Minister has just announced that cruise ships will no longer be allowed to dock in Australia.  I feel so sorry for those on the current World Cruise.

Is this immediately?  I have a friend on a Regent World Cruise, also on their way to Perth.

"The Australian Government will also ban cruise ships from foreign ports from arriving to Australian ports for an initial 30 days and that will go forward on a rolling basis."

I hope that means the Amsterdam can continue until it gets to Fremantle, considering it's most recent ports were in Australia

We have been in Australian waters since 7 March, but wording of statement is ambiguous. I have no clue if it applies to us.

We are on the WC and are awaiting an interpretation of what the rules mean.  We were scheduled to dock in Darwin tomorrow but that’s off.  Most just wish we would make a bee line for either coast of the US.  One of the bad things is many Australian’s had planned on getting off in Fremantle but now maybe captives.

I agree it's very ambiguous, but as far as I know we don't have cruise ships in Australia that haven't been to foreign ports recently, so it seems like an odd thing to say.

If they do indeed come into effective immediately, this will also impact tens of thousands of Aussies onboard so many ships that travelled RTC from Australia and hasnt come back yet. This includes ones on Golden, Ruby, Voyager/Ovation (RCI), Carnival Splendor, etc.

Once again ScoMo fails IMHO.

True that, we have lots of Aussies that had planned on getting off in Fremantle to avoid quarantine.

Sadly this is not a surprise.  Many countries have been forced to do this to protect their citizens.

It’s going to put the World Cruisers on the Amsterdam in a tough spot 😞 and complicate things even more 😞
