ECLIPSE DENIED BY SANTIAGO PORT

When we were up at Oceanview this aft, I heard them tell a couple they were running out of house red/white and white zinfandel. Nnot surprising as they offered free drinks for all at least 2 evenings ago.  I asked for fresh berries this AM and was told they were out of them.  They are probably keeping a small amount for garnishes, but that is OK.  No big deal.  We are still being fed well.

Last announcement for the night, minutes ago.....no change.  I would be happy if they would let us in to refuel. Then we could say Hasta Luego Chile!

Back in Canada, arived in toronto this am now waiting for connecting flight to NS.  Been travelling for over 24 hours now.

We flew santiago to brazil ... no screenings at all

Brazil flight to Toronto. Almost full, everyone allowed to embark no matter nationality.  Lots of brazilians.  No check of temps.

Arrived in canada and at customs had to say yes to voluntary self quarantine.  Which we gladly will to protect our neighbors in our small town.

No temps were taken, only paper given out with info.

Kind of sad.  But heard rules will really kick in wednesday.

Glad to see those on the ship have some answers.

Take care.

Here's an update from my friend this morning.  Eclipse has anchored in Valparaiso to drop Chilean PAX off, refuel and Provision.  They then will set sail for San Diego.  The passage should take 14 days which will give them the required quarantine time when disembarking from the ship.  The Azmara Pursuit is just off the coast as well, and was supposed to head to Miami to drop PAX (same quarantine period), but the last location shows it turned around (another friend is on that ship).  It was indicated that the Captain wanted to get in one more excursion - so through the canal they go!  Will keep you posted when I get another update.  Here's a pic of the Eclipse at sea yesterday (taken from the Azmara Pursuit).

Here is a post from a passenger that is on the ship and sharing on a different site:

Update - We are on Celebrity Eclipse. As of midnight we were still denied entry to Chile. The new change is we will go to the port at Valparaíso Chile and anchor there. We will refuel and load of necessary provisions which will be brought to the ship. We will then continue on to dock in San Diego, Ca. . Many people on the ship were hoping for this to happen.
Captain Leo said it will take 24 hours in Valparaíso to get everything done and 10 days to San Diego.

We are so happy and relieved. Our flight from Santiago to San Diego had been canceled as had many others.

Good luck to those of you on Eclipse right now.  We had the pleasure of sailing our (perhaps?) last cruise on Eclipse in early January from San Antonio to Buenos Aires.  We had very little if any thought of the virus or exposure on ship - our cruise ended exactly 2 months ago.  Wow the world has changed.  I hope your journey to San Diego is uneventful.  And your travels home too.

Yes, good luck to everyone aboard Eclipse.  I hope that you will enjoy your 10 days enroute to San Diego.

p.s. be sure that Celebrity credits you with the additional club points associated with your extra days on board!!

This message is to our fellow passengers on the Eclipse.  As we now know, we will be on board for the next 10-14 day.  Celebrity continues to treat us well and the crew continues to provide excellent service.  The crew relies heavily on our tips as part of their income.  We were able to get a form from the guest relations desk to allocate ongoing tips for the crew.  We would like to urge our fellow travellers to do the same and to spread the word to other guests who may not have access to cruise critic.  Thanks!

We are of course waiting for this mess to be over before booking any cruise. Fortunately, we did not have one booked during this crisis period. When it is back to something like normal, we will have to decide which line to take. We have cruised Celebrity suites twice in recent years, and greatly enjoyed those cruises. We are watching this thread closely to see how Celebrity handles this crisis. Looks good so far. One thing we are wondering is hoe Celebrity is going to assist guests return to their homes from San Diego. If Celebrity is able to handle that matter well, you can bet our next cruise will be Celebrity.

Beautiful gesture for a well deserving crew.

btw you might reach more fellow passengers if you post on Eclipse Roll call of 15 March, there is some activity of present passengers.

best of luck and safe travels home !

Great idea!  We are back to back to backers (been on board 45 days and counting!) and I didn’t think to join the roll call for this cruise.  Maybe someone on the roll all could re-post?

None of the 65 Chileans that debarked today tested positive for COVID-19

Well that's great news.  The ship collected all passports a short time ago, they need to be stamped for exit of Chile.

Still bunkering fuel.  Am told provisions barges will start after bunkering complete.

Making progress one step at a time.

That's good news. Hopefully by the time Eclipse gets back to the States that they haven't cancelled domestic flights or put San Diego in lockdown like San Francisco is doing. A lot can happen in 14 days.

Are the trains still running?

Just saw that on Marine Traffic, Hey if you see this one roaming around the ship, tell him hello for us - looks like the weather at present is cooperating!

So far, can't say enough good things about Celebrity. Captain, crew and everyone has been extremely nice and helpful working through such an unprecedented situation. Alejandro, the cruise director, and the entertainers on board have planned entertainment for the next 10 days almost overnight. The staff and crew are doing everything possible to keep everyone happy.  Celebrity has told everyone they will be making arrangements for everyone's flight back home once we reach San Diego so people do not need to panic about scheduling flights.

So everyone on the ship is healthy, free meals, internet, drinks, entertainment and good sunny weather. Not that anyone planned for this but since there is no quarantine and you have ability to roam the ship at will, it's not a bad gig.

That sounds great.

Captain just said that provisions are in San Antonio awaiting customs clearance and they should be taken to the ship via barges tomorrow. The medication list was given to the port agent which is making arrangements to get them to bring them tomorrow aboard.
