Cruises after 4/10/2020

Recommended Posts

With the uncertainty of what is going on ~ I can not help but wonder if carnival will resume April 10th, or do you think they will cancel future cruises ~ I am booked at the end of April ~ likely going to cancel and rebook ~ but, if Carnival decides to cancel I am wondering if it is better to wait and see what they offer.  (as the one I am cancelling was an excellent rate, and any future cruise I book will be a lot more money for the same cruise)  ~ Just looking for opinions ~ thanks !

Unfortunately, this situation is so fluid that I don't think there is anyway to really answer your question. If there terms of the current cancellation policy work for you, then I would do what you are most comfortable with. If you would cruise at the end of April if cruises have resumed, then I guess you should wait. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer here.

I do know that things are changing so fast that senior leadership at some cruise lines are learning as they go. Captain Albert, who blogs for Holland America (a Carnival sister company) posted a blog for Saturday (March 14) saying that everything on his current cruise through the Panama Canal was proceeding. The next day, he said that about 15 minutes after he uploaded the last post, they were told that they were done and to disembark everyone in Puerto Vallarta. I'm very curious to see what he says next!

We are scheduled to cruise May 3rd and will wait. The reason for this is that we had to cancel for 3/22/20 and Carnival gave a 100% Future Cruise Credit as well as a $600 On Board Credit. The second option was a full refund. We took the FCC and OBC.

I had a cruise leaving 4/11/20. I decided to cancel. The uncertainty was driving me crazy.

What made my decision easier was they offered a full refund. No FCC. This way I have no limitations on when I cruise.

I will definitely cruise again. I'm addicted. Only this way I can control when I cruise.

We’re booked in an oceanview April 18. We are waiting to cancel to see if they decide to cancel it themselves as that would be most advantageous to us. Meanwhile I have put in a request to get a balcony upgrade at no additional cost.....just in case we get stuck on board. Just trying to stay fluid knowing that we may have to cancel last minute anyway as I work in a hospital laboratory. I had bought their cancel for any reason insurance. I’ve told my husband that it’s out of our hands so  just trying to remain calm...

How did you get a full refund for April11?  Carnival cancellations are only through April 10. For my April 13 cruise I canceled, I think I just have FCC that must be used within one year (although I don’t know anything for sure because I have not received any emails about it, only info from this board and John Healds posts).  I would love to get full refund because I don’t know that I can use the FCC within one year.  Appreciate any info you can give. Thanks.

It was an option offered by my PVP. I thought I would only get FCC. He said that the policies are changing constantly and that was a option available. I questioned repeatedly that it would be a refund and not a FCC and he said yes.  Refund would take about 8-10 days and be refunded according to how I paid.

Hope this helps.

That is awesome. Thank you. I have called and emailed a PVP (not sure if I can call him MY PVP but he has helped me before) but  have gotten no response. I guess I will keep calling him back. Thanks again.

I am booked June 7,2020 on the Pride leaving Baltimore. Cruise was booked on a casino offer for 100.00 plus port fees and taxes with 200.00 OBC.  Price is SO good compared to regular pricing.  If Carnival cancels, I will take the refund. Their FCC could not beat this casino offer, unless they offer a bigger OBC with the FCC.

I can't be the only one thinking of booking a cruise for April 13, for example, and expecting Carnival to cancel it just to get the FCC and whatever other benefits they offer to go with it. Right?

Will that work? I feel it's most likely they will cancel cruises until at least June.

Everything I have seen about the revised cancellation policies say they are for bookings made before March 6 (or 10, can’t remember).

What if for some reason they actually sail, will you be going on the cruise?

I have a cruise booked for departure on April 25th.  My concern is even if the cruise is not cancelled, will the ports on our itinerary allow our ship to dock?

Our scheduled ports right now are Grand Turk, San Juan P.R., St. Maarten, St. Kitts.  I don't want to go on an 8 night cruise that just goes around in circles.

Interesting procedure I'm going thru. Had my 3/23/20 sailing cancelled by Carnival (paid in full). I'm sailing on 07/17/20 (only a deposit on this sailing). Had my PVC put entire amount paid including pre paid gratuities on that sailing. He did that last night. Got a Cabin Confirmation Email about 2 hrs. later but with just the Taxes, Fees, Port charges and pre paid gratuities deducted from my final payment amount. Waiting to see how long it will take for the FCC to hit that sailing.

No way they resume cruising on 04/10.

I would sit and wait. Everyone wants to get ahead of this, but from what I'm seeing, there is little to no benefit in doing so. If they cancel it, I would expect you would get a better offer.

They're only going to cancel one month at a time because it takes forever to even process all the cancellations. Hold times are already 2-3 hours, can you imagine if they canceled everything until the summer in one swoop?

I think cruise lines will suspend sailings until at least mid-summer. We aren't even close to the peak of this thing in the states.

Im scheduled for 4/11. I wont be able to go as my wife's job has imposed a mandatory 14 day quarantine when we would return. Im holding out waiting to see if Carnival will cancel as the offers seem to be better at that point vs cancelling on our own.

Our cruise is 4/25 on the Breeze and we are still holding out to see what the offer is because I too believe that they will cancel cruises out past ours.   Either way we will cancel - both my sisters are over 70 and no doctors are going to sign the paperwork saying they are ok to sail even though they are healthy.     I did cancel the shore excursions we had booked online for that cruise this morning.    When I was trying to complete the transactions to remove them it kept giving me a message that said they couldn't process my request - try again later or call this number 800-764-7419.   I called the number and was only on hold for 20 minutes before someone picked up.    She checked my account and said yes they had been removed.   She told me to log out and clear my cookies on my computer and then log back in.    Did that and they no longer show up.    Let's hope that when we cancel the cruise and use that credit for a future cruise it goes just as smoothly.    Stay healthy everyone and hope this passes soon..
