JES4845 Posted March 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2020 Thanks for catching that news update. Not surprised of course. Was advised today by one SD2 crew member that they were told tentative return date would be June 7 for at least that individual - perhaps others coming back earlier. Distressed to confirm how abruptly the crew was told to pack up and ship out last weekend. Crew who were kept aboard for the SD2 crossing including some wait staff will have to undergo 14 days quarantine in Portugal once they get there and before they can return home. What’s to stop their home country from then making them go through another 14 days quarantine once in their home country?
DWhit Posted March 21, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2020 Since the decision about the cancellation, SeaDream is handling things very well in my opinion. The website was updated promptly, we have already received an email anouncing the cancellation, plus the email gives us good details of the future cruise credits we will receive because of the cancellation, and how and when they can be used. It also lets us know their representatives will be contacting us in the future to discuss specific details. Good on them!
JES4845 Posted March 21, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2020 That’s helpful. For those of us who have had the distinct pleasure of sailing on SeaDream over the years, the common thread is how absolutely wonderful we are treated by the crew. Many of us speak of them as family. Time folks for us to put our wallets where our kind words have been all these years. I am getting reports of crew who are frankly not in good shape as they were abruptly ordered off the ship, sent home on multiple segment flights, etc. Not clear how they are being paid if at all. They need our help. Must leave it for now to each of you to reach out to those crew you know and have emails for to see what might help, especially the Filipino wait staff that we understand are most in need. Say a prayer for them but also help them as best you can if you have relationships to make that happen. God bless.
