Oh my, I never thought I would spend part of my day following 2 HAL ships. I'ts 2.48 pm in the UK. Have they had the go ahead to dock yet? I do hope so.

If they've been allowed to come in, next step will be for a halt one mile east of the seabuoy to pick up their Port Everglades pilots. Keep an eye on at least one pilot boat heading out to sea from the port

Both ships are traveling northwest at 9 plus knots. Copper what does the buoy look like on the marine traffic map?

If you look at the AIS map on both webcam pages - so below the life pic - you'll see Pilot Boat No.4 has just left PE for a rendezvous. Look at where she halts and you have the location one mile east of that seabuoy

 

You can/will have to enlarge that map to get a better/close up view. Pilot Boat No. 4 just passed an orange marker by the name of "PE" (an aid to navigation) and appears to be headed for oil/chemical tanker "Brenton Reef"

Why not?

 A lot of the ships start in Florida  & head  to other Countries

 They have many Americans/Canadians/Brits/Australians  onboard

 just because  embarkation was in SA does not mean they are all from SA

Thank you Copper. Pilot 4 made contact with the Ship Brent due east of Fort Lauderdale. Will that be the site for our two ships to get a pilot?

GOOD NEWS!! MSNBC has just announced that a deal has been done, and the Zaandam and Rotterdam will be docking in FLL at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm respectively!!

Come to think of it, and waking up a bit more, that aid to navigation orange marker by the name of "PE" on the AIS map is more than likely the PE sea buoy. Pilot Boat No. 4 has just dropped off their pilot on board Brenton Reef and both are now headed for Port Everglades! Duh!

Could there be 2 pilots on boat no 4? I no nothing of this kinda thing. It's very interesting.

Me thinks those two tugs - Trident and Hawk - waiting outside will be escorting that oil/chemical tanker - Brenton Reef - inbound. Check it out on the Port Everglades cam. The two dam ships won't require tugs

Dockings are scheduled for 1pm and 1:30pm. It is now just 10:25am.

Just heard the news, and they said critically ill pax will be sent to hospital but those others who are just 'sick' will be treated onboard...clearly one of the big sticking points for the powers that be in Florida in not wanting people pouring into the hospitals from ships.

Also, in a more morbid tone they also said 2 of the 4 deceased tested positive for COVID-19 so there's no doubt that it is/was present onboard.

Those published docking times were always tentative, pending approval to come in so yeah, that's a distinct possibility. Zaandam just altered course to northbound with Rottie in trail

But look at my post #1949 for the actual disembarkation procedures per NBC at 8:45 this morning.  It is not a simple "bused" to the airport.
