Taking the refund became an easy choice

Recommended Posts

I found out that a refund is divided amongst all those under a reservation no matter the age, so my young son ended up with half what I originally paid,  I would have thought it would have gone to the person that paid or even an adult but nope so instead of taking the 125%, screw NCL and I want my refund

You can fill out a form and have it signed/notarized to move the credit to you.

Thanks, my TA did not bring that up but honestly in the world we are in right now and what will be awhile, not worth the effort especially with the uncertainty around cruising

I agree with you. When (If), my May cruise gets cancelled, I may take the refund vs. FCC, I'm really on the fence.

There is an easy process to get it all back to the primary.

Our refund was not divided but the total amount was returned to my Credit Card within a couple days.  Then we got a FCC on our Latitudes account which we didn't expect.  So not sure why so many others are having different experiences??????????  Our cruise was cancelled by NCL and not us.  3/29 Getaway.

Shouldn't you be able to use your FCC on anything?

According to NCL, refunds will return to the original form of payment - so refunds would go back to whatever CC was used - which is what apparently happened in your case.

FCC is split, based on the way NCL split the costs for the cruise - if 2 people, split equally.  If 3 or more, it would depend on the distribution.  Again, what apparently happened in your case.  Why you got FCC plus a full refund is a little confusing however.

There are dozens of different refund offers out there depending on the circumstances, so dozens of ways requests will be resolved. The problem with reading answers on a forum like this is that people don't always give all the details.  Some may have bought through a TA-group/charter (as opposed to using a TA to book) or CAS; different countries have different contracts; some people have cancelled and are using insurance for their refund.  And some people are using the terms refund and FCC interchangeably.

In my case I have an upcoming cruise that will probably be cancelled.  I normally go solo, but I invited someone to go with me since there was no additional cost.  If I take the refund, it will all come back to me.  If I take the FCC, it would be split and half given to a person that most likely won't be taking a different cruise with me. So I will take the cash on that one.  Re-booking would cost me way too much anyway, because the cruise was highly discounted because it was a replacement for an earlier cruise that was cancelled.
