On a serious note you do realize the SARS-CoV-2 virus has mutated several times and there are now different strains that we can trace from China, Europe etc...    No vaccine is 100% effective and also you are one mutation from losing it's effectiveness.

 

I highly doubt Italy wants to see a repeat or any country for that matter.   

 

Look at what China and So Korea are doing with re-starting international flights.  Pre test, track, landing test + quarantine.   It is a foolish country and more foolish leaders that would be so cavalier right now.

Precisely because it is not 100% effective is the reason to maximize vaccinations.  An 80% effective vaccine applied to 80% of the population provides significantly less protection than that 80% effective vaccine applied to 100%.

 

Herd immunity has increasing likelihood of existing in any real sense as the percentage immunized rises. You are a lot closer to achieving it if you have 90% immunized vs 70%.  Because there will always be some slipping through the cracks, you have to aim as high as possible.
