My brother recently visited and we played our childhood pictures which are now on dvd and many of them were Frontier town, me standing next to a Indian etc , remember stagecoach ride that was attacked 😁😁😁.

I do not have childhood pictures on DVD’s but I do have hundreds of childhood pictures  in albums.

I have had it multiple times over the last week or so. I’m not thrilled when time invested is lost when you hit submit.

For me that had been a come and go issue, and it has been hit or miss for a while.

I've had typed up posts disappear too. It is really annoying.

Once again, I am seriously behind.  Sunday and Monday were our last days with our two grandkids from PA.  After the final days of summer / back to school party with another bounce house, our plan was to take them boating.

But rain started moving in, so we booked a hotel room so we could all have some indoor swimming.

Good grandparents that we are, we gave them wings.

and Klondike bars

Then it was more swimming on Monday morning.  (At least my hair doesn’t look grey from the back)😂😂

And a trip to the Japanese restaurant for lunch.  I can’t believe how much grandson can eat.

An afternoon of lego building capped off their day. We had to buy another big box of basic pieces so they could get creative. They even took time out to sketch what they planned to build. Our living room looked like this for much of the summer.

Blond hair and blue eyes.  Yes, we do have two in this category. (their picture from this morning)

Both my kids ended up with my blue eyes, and not my wife’s brown ones.

Of course, my other grandson has dark hair and brown eyes.

His mother had hoped he would keep the blue eyes he was born with, but they had changed to brown after a couple months. His first day was two weeks ago now.

Our first kid free day for a long time was filled with strange sights.

Driving through Amish country, we had to get out of the slow lane.

Not long after we passed him, we drove by a place with a couple of unique lawn ornaments.

For the record, Susan told me I am not allowed to do this, or anything similar on our lawn.

And, evidently because we were going to miss the remnants of hurricane Ida, we decided to drive far enough to experience some very heavy rain and flooding today.

We did make it through.

Day 7 of the Disney trip report (Continued)

After the refreshment, it’s time for another oldie but goodie ride – Disneyland Railroad.  The WDW version has been out of service since December 2018 as they tore down part of the track that goes through Tomorrowland to make room for the new TRON ride for the 50th anniversary.

20210813_165751.thumb.jpg.59e26a1a3b9a68d5f256f3b851f855f7.jpg

View of Tom Sawyer Island.  Never made it across the river to go there on this visit.  Star Wars land sucked up too much of our time as it was new

20210813_171943.thumb.jpg.a45ed8f4d6534a4daa0d546742700ddf.jpg

View of It’s a Small World from the train. Always admire the topiary work at Disney parks.  I can’t even do a good straight line on my lawn with my edger at home

There’s something deeply psychological about waving at strangers while you are on train/ship and they somehow wave back. Try it next time from a ship or train to see if anyone waves back versus if you waved at them while inside Target/Costco…

The classic dinosaur diorama as part of the Disneyland railroad ride. As far as I know, only Disneyland has this as part of the railroad display.

We wanted another ride on the Pirates of the Caribbean, so we got off at New Orleans Square and hopped on with minimal wait.

Blue Bayou.  Top tier Disneyland restaurant.  Ate there once many years ago

Ride per YouTube:

Then off to Tomorrow land for Buzz Lightyear.

The original Shooter ride not getting much love at a mere 5 minute wait time.

After that, time to head for Main Street for some obligatory souvenir purchases – how cute is that?

As it was after 6:30, the wife and the boys headed back to the hotel from Main Street  to get dinner set up while I walked back to Frontier Land area to get the famous Turkey Leg.  We still have a lot of pasta leftover from previous night so just needed something extra to go with it.  What better than the classic Disneyland turkey leg?

As with all things Disney, there’s a line

20210813_185753.thumb.jpg.bfc49a20a6751f8a560476445815376b.jpg

$4.19 per soda or water times 4 people times multiple days can become a hefty sum quickly if you don't carefully control what you buy

20210813_190108.thumb.jpg.2485f7cea7a0eed47805ca25b426d777.jpg

Here’s the turkey leg all prewrapped so you can take it anywhere inside your backpack

1628906595409.thumb.jpg.f47fb42abaf6f43b7ed1df6d5d45825d.jpg

The walk back to the hotel right after exiting Disneyland.  Down the street.  Left at the light.  Walk to the next light and then another left and you are there.  About 0.6 mile one way.

Deboned for everyone to share

As it’s our last night of vacation (boo!), time to clean up and finish all the food in the refrigerator (Eat it or lose it).  Leftover from Buca the night before

I saw there was a price drop on my April Allure cruise.  Thank you to my TA, we're saving $570 on our Oceanview Balcony.  I'm a happy camper!😉

Interesting about April. We had a $285 drop on Navigator. And it is just a 5 night in a JS. :classic_biggrin:

After dinner, it was back to the park for the nightly 9 PM fireworks

As before, standing on main street with my 10,000 BFFs with Main Street packed from one end to another.  When was the last time anyone muttered the words "social distance" anywhere?

Here comes the “snope”

Grand Finale

Here’s the Youtube video on the whole fireworks show.  At first when I watched it from home in preparation for the trip, I wasn’t impressed with the music selection as it didn’t feel “classic” like the old Julie Andrews narrated shows of the past but after seeing it live in person twice, the rock music works surprisingly well with hundreds of people singing and dancing on Main Street.  Very festive

Here's a video just few days before our visit

Impressive.  Did you know where this was in the show so that you were ready, or did you just get lucky (or a combination of both)?  It seemed to appear out of no where.  And thanks for posting the video.  When you said rock music, I was thinking something like AC/DC Thunderstruck. 🤣🤣  I actually like what they did with the electronic dance remix of Let It Go, and I get a little sad every time I hear Robin Williams singing Friend Like Me.  That guy was just a genius.  Going from Mork and Mrs. Doubtfire to Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society...what incredible range.

Since I mentioned AC/DC, here's a completely different sidetrack for this thread.  Iron Man 2 with Shoot To Thrill is still one of my favorite movie opening scenes.

Glad you made it home safely.  We're heading out in the next hour to our dentist on Staten Island...a one and a half hour ride when there's no traffic.  We are hoping to avoid flooded streets and highways🤞

While we were in Southampton pre-cruise we watched a number of ships leaving.

Disney Magic was impressive but Regal Princess played a lovely tune all the way down the Solent.

Nice!!  Love it when they "sing" while leaving port!!   Used to hear it from our old house in Merritt Island.  🙂

And hey....we got to hear your actual voice in that clip!!  Very beautiful proper English accent!  🙂
