Stay safe Graham.  Are food delivery services like Door Dash, Grub Hub, and Uber Eats big in the UK?  We get something delivered by Door Dash at least once a week.  Not the same as going out, but usually better than cooking.

We have uber eats and deliveroo who deliver from supermarkets as well as take aways meals from restaurants

But most peoples big weekly delivery is done  by the supermarkets own service, Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose etc.

Uber eats and deliveroo are handy for small items you may of forgotten

I haven't gone into a shop for around 3 weeks now and won't until the rates start to come down.

Lots of takeaways have their own delivery drivers.

Most of the food supermarkets do home delivery ordered online.

Sounds good thanks.👍

UK Prime minister has just announced a Full Lockdown until February 15th at the earliest.

A record 80,000 positive cases for covid19 on December 29th.

Bummer.... very long!!!

It seems that the British and South African "variants" are highly contagious... we're heading in this "direction" too... the 3rd lock down doesn't seem to work, people are fed up and they see that the vaccinations are here, so, sadly, they let their "guard down".

The "rationale" seems to be: "let's do it TOTAL one more time for 2 weeks and be done with this virus"...

I went to college near Vermont and then worked in Northeastern PA, and Killington became my preferred resort.  We'd pack several people into a condo and ski the Bear Mountain area for a weekend.

I learned to ski in the Catskills.  It was perfect for a day trip. Killington also became my preferred resort for long weekends trips or even week long trips, My friends would hit Bear Mountain early while I studied the trail map to see how far I could ski without having to get on a chair lift, hence a lot of meandering trails between the various peaks.  Even though we rented a condo, we'd often be out eating at the Wobbly Barn or Casey's Caboose.

When I was real gung-ho, I'd do day trips to Mt. Snow in southern Vermont.  2 1/2 - 3 hour drive each way, ski, lunch, ski, happy hour, dinner then home. Leave my house at 4:30 am and return 11:00 pm.  Certainly can't do that anymore.

I did find a small mountain about 65-70 minutes from where I current live. 1,000 foot vertical drop but a $199 unlimited skiing season pass means I could drive up after breakfast, ski a couple hours and be home by lunch. Or when they'd have night skiing, drive up after work. That's more my speed these days. EDIT: That was a few years ago. Not sure what it is now.

I keep thinking that I want to go skiing again, but I'm probably better off with the memory of how good I used to be rather than the reality of what a 25 year older body could handle.  Sigh.

You might be surprised. When I first got married and bought a house, money was tight so I stopped skiing for 5-6 years. When I went back, it was like riding a bicycle. Of course, that's was when I was still in my 30's. 😏

Daily average of 50,000+ new covid19 cases and over 500 deaths.

Pauline is a civil servant but working from home but several of her work colleagues in her office just today have tested positive for  covid19.

The new variant is said to be 50% more infectious.

Pleased you have your first vaccine.

Stay safe.

I've started to wear 2 masks when I absolutely have to go shopping for groceries/meds/vegetables/etc. -- one from cloth which fits tight, and the blue one on top of it....

Good idea.

We have had a couple of walks but otherwise we have not been out in the car for over a week.

I will put a mask on over my full face visor next time I go in a food shop or pharmacy.

So Uber runs in the UK?  Many places in Europe don’t allow Uber.

Thanks for the full list Norwich Cruiser.

I hadn't checked the gov site just what Boris said on TV.

For us in Tier 4 not much will change when this starts on Wednesday morning.

Thanks, Marietta, but I'm sure you'll ALL end up remaining here for the winter... 😁

We had temperatures 72-76 F for the last 10 days, no rain, just sunshine.

It is going to last for another week....

And, I don't even own clothes for "your" winter 🤪

I’m assuming those chocolates are from the York designer centre.

No.

I have sold chocolate confectionery for various companies for 35 years.
