Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Going light weight and with almost nothing pre-planned for excursions.  Just taxi to a beach.  Very different approach for me.  Will see how it goes.

I really enjoy having arrived at a point where I can cruise like that. It is amazing to me how relaxing a week can be when an itinerary is full of places that I've been to several times and I have no particular plan or agenda and can just play every day on a whim.

I think these short lens are really good for food shots and portrait shots where you want to focus on just one thing and have everything else blurred. I know it's a pain to carry a camera around with a bunch of lenes on a cruise. I am going to try and do a mixture of both DSLR and iPhone. I just know that the quality of a good camera makes a huge difference. That's what makes Twangster's threads so great.

I bought a 40mm pancake on a whim. It's so small, doesn't look like I have a lens. But it's still not wide enough for landscape photos. And the 10-22 is to big unless I want to capture something special like Cordoba Mezquita. Camera phones keep getting better

TSOTD is Royal Bingo from my Dec.2019 cruise. Our Meet and Greet was in the area where bingo is played. One of the raffles was for the tee shirt I am

wearing now described as One Size fits none.I told my wife that I hoped to win the shirt but I did not.A woman sitting behind us won the raffle and gave me the shirt .Presumably she heard me saying I hoped to win it.

No big camera, no GoPro, no gimbal, no drone, no bags/accessories/batteries/chargers/etc...just my iPhone.  Going light weight and with almost nothing pre-planned for excursions.  Just taxi to a beach.

This is the way I started doing it awhile back and have enjoyed it.  Nice not having to keep up with it all.  In the past I have printed out some photos to hang but few compared to the number of shots.  Most pics and  videos are digitally shared.  I enjoy viewing the memories on the tv.  The LG will even show them in digital frames 😂.  I have considered buying a tv to hang and devoting it to photos.

For some reason I started considering building back up what I was taking on the upcoming cruise.  Luckily the new gimbal I was looking at is not going to start shipping until about the day we are leaving home.  Looked at other options too but basically just going with a phone.  The only thing I am considering now is buying a table tripod that holds a phone.

I think you will enjoy yourself maybe even more. No pressure to document just soak it all in. I plan on doing that in the future, if nothing else alternate.

Today is our 28th anniversary. Celebrated with dinner at our club tonight. They gave us some champagne to start the night, some raspberry creme brûlée for dessert, and some caramel macarons to bring home. VERY good Wagyu beef tenderloin for our meal (sorry, no pics of the beef). Great view while eating. A very good way to start our cruise week. TOMORROW IS CRUISE DAY!

We just got home, only to drop him off at the arena again, to watch the Junior C team play. In less than an hour, pizza was consumed and he had a shower along with two 15 minute drives each way. We for sure are looking for things to slow down a bit.

Ohhh to be as young as Owen again.  All that stamina!!  Good luck in all his sports events.

The METS have 13 games left.Based on their schedule they may not finish at .500 this season. They need a new Hitting Coach ,Manager ,Closer and many assorted new players. My suggestion for their next Manager is Lee Mazzilli.

Day 2- September 11, 2021 Cruising At Sea

Today is a good day to enjoy the ship and check out all it has to offer.  But first I like to say a few words about the crew onboard.  They are phenomenal.  They are so pleasant, eager to serve and please.  They have to endure 2 tests a week.  Not your one inch in your nose swabs but up to your brain kind of swabs.  They say yes, it is painful and sometimes it makes your nose bleed but they are still happy to go through it just to keep everyone healthy.  This is a better choice than being back home with no jobs or doing some meager jobs just to survive.  They are a few of the lucky ones that get to be working on the ship now while many of their colleagues are still waiting for their assignments back home.  They say Royal is really good to them with some programs to help out those really in need.  They kept thanking us for cruising with them.  So appreciative of us being there but I think it’s the other way around.  We are so grateful for them for being there for us.
