Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Checking in here this afternoon and realizing that some of you are faced with medical challenges as we begin another week.

Good wishes to Lenny, baby Finnely and her mom and Andrew’s mom. Hoping the days ahead are filled with improved health for all.

@h20skibumMy heartfelt thoughts go to you, your wife and daughter ,her husband and children  during this time where medical decisions will need to be made for her best care. It is apparent from the way that you have taken care of your grandchildren, especially your grandson from California, that you are

generous  and caring parents and grandparents. You will do all in your power to support your daughter and her family. I am sending positive thoughts and prayers to all of you for continued strength and love on this journey.

So Linda went to get dog and cat food and picked up some toys for the pups. One was a chew toy that is made up of some kind rope/straw combo and is not suppose to be harmful if eaten by the dogs. Needless to say Lizzy loved it and destroyed it as you can see. "Honey get out the vacuum cleaner".

And in the snail world, did you know that they are cannibals?  Lisa stepped on one today by accident and we saw this a few hours later.

I was today years old.

One of my fave chicken dishes.  Honest, it's so easy and delicious.

The news was not good, hence my absence for the last couple weeks.  I do not think I will have a chance to catch up on the last 70 pages or so.

It has been a stressful couple of weeks, and that will continue for quite a while.  Trying to avoid googling, and rely on what the medical professionals have to say.

After her positive diagnosis, daughter has been to Cleveland Clinic a couple of times, as well as Pittsburgh a couple times in the last two weeks.   She has more appointments this week in Pittsburgh on Monday and Wednesday.  In the meantime, we have been trying to keep things as normal as possible for the grandkids.  It was even tougher, because we still had our California grandson here until he went home last Tuesday.  His school started last Thursday.

In the meantime, we canceled the five cruises we had booked, because we know what lies ahead with treatments, surgery, and recovery.  For us, family is first, and cruising will have to wait.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, because we are all headed down a long road.

I will try to post a little of what we did with the kids to close out our Summer of Fun 2.0, as I get some time.

So sorry to hear this. You, your daughter and family are in my thoughts. Wishing for a good outcome.

That would be us along with a couple of our friends.  I believe @ReneeFLL is also aboard, and I am not sure if @Ocean Boy is looking at it.

Sorry we will miss you in January. As you said family is more important and ships and the ocean will always be there for another time.

I'm not sure if you mentioned the problem or not. Please don't think I am trying to pry. I miss so many things on this thread and don't know if this is one or you prefer to not say.

What the he!! is wrong with RCI's IT? I'm trying to do some cruise pricing and getting a message that my C&A number is not valid. This issue has been going on for a couple of years now where that happens intermittantly. It is so frustrating.🤨🤨🤨

I went to our Marina area tonight for dinner.  There is a HUGE yacht docked there called Double Down.  I was told that it's been here for a couple of weeks.  It's 214ft/65.2m long.  It's for sale for only $44MM USD.  Maybe if SeaDog and the Kruisin' Krakens takes off, it can be the band's "tour bus".  It's also available for charter for only $420K per week.  There are only 9 guest cabins so if we want to charter it, we'll all need to share cabins and get cozy.

There was another big yacht docked behind it called D'Natalin IV.  It's "only" 49m long and looks small compared to the Double Down.  The D'Natalin IV would normally easily be the biggest yacht in our marina.  Must be tough pulling in with your big super yacht, only to find out that someone else is already there and is bigger.  🤣🤣

There were no painted lines on the dock and no one there to blow a whistle, so...

Yep we’ve got two of those and they go nuts with stat stuff you spray inside.

We made the 3 hour drive south from Orlando to Hollywood Fl today and checked in to Margaritaville Hollywood Resort.  Our grandsons had a blast trying a flow rider for the first time.  I’m sure they’ll want to do it again tomorrow.  I love these boys beyond words, but I won’t be sad to drop them off to their other grandparents on Tuesday in Amelia Island!  I’m pretty sure the other grandparents here know how I feel LOL.

We did 84 days of our CA grandson, 24/7.   You should try that sometime. 😀

I didn’t mention specifically.  If it was me, I would mention, but I will still be non specific with her.  Just know that they say it is rare and aggressive.  That is why we wish things would move along quicker than they are.

One of the things I did, to occupy the grandsons, was to take them to the golf course.  They really enjoyed their time out there.  Our PA grandson is an excellent golfer for his age.

He only played 9, but had a respectable 43 and one birdie.  I say not bad for a 9 year old.

Last weekend, we had our early birthday party for our CA grandson.  His actual birthday is this Thursday, but we would not be around for it. Once again, we rented a large bounce house and slide for the kids.

And I have to tell the story about the balloons that are attached to this canopy.

0B5A6F14-E532-4BDD-99C7-7B2530F76AD7.thumb.jpeg.4b0fba4196e9209c5e7ca961fe3e13f9.jpeg

All the helium balloons came inflated in a large plastic bag. I had tied them to a chair under the canopy, while I was tying the #10 ballon to the post.  That is when Susan looked, and yelled “The balloons are floating away.  The whole bunch of balloons in the plastic bag caught on a branch, about 65 foot up in one of the trees.

So with nothing to reach that high, I came up with my plan.  I got out my bow and arrow, and tied a heavy duty fishing line to the arrow.  With one shot, I sent the arrow through the plastic bag, and was able to pull the whole bunch down from the tree. Not only that, but not a single balloon broke.  My grandson said that was awesome, and Susan was wishing she had filmed it.

Our food porn was just some steak and chicken on the grill.

Our grandson really enjoyed the party, although we had pared down the guest list because of what was going on.

If there are any volunteers for an apple on the head, I can use some practice. 🤣

FWIW, about 8 yrs ago, Andy’s sisters husband was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, stage 4.  He spent 6 months in Seattle WA at their Cancer Center and has been cancer free since.  I don’t know what your daughter is dealing with but just wanted to share that miracles do happen, even with rare and aggressive diseases.  🙏
