FromSea2ShiningSea Posted May 6 #120877 Share Posted May 6 Day 12- 4/6/2024 Today’s itinerary- Mt. Fuji 5th Station & Five-Lake Region Some facts on the 5th Station & Five-Lake Region- -There are four climbing trails on different sides of the mountain; each trail is divided into 10 stations with the 1st station at the foot of the mountain and the 10th station being the summit. -5th Station is located at the elevation of 2,305 meters above sea-level or approx. halfway up the mountain. -Fuji Five-Lake region is the are at the northern foot of Fujiyama; elevation is 1,000 meters above sea level Because of today’s cloudy weather, we can only go to the 4th Station. It seems like we are so high up in the sky but we don’t see Mt. Fuji yet. Kawaguchi Lake Lunch time is a dish made of flat “udon’ noodles cooked in a miso soup with vegetables and is served in an iron pot. We continue on to the Kubota Itchiku Art Museum where the museum displays a magnificient collection of over life-size landscape kimono creations by the acclaimed textile artist Kubota Itchiku. Other structures, artwork and landscape at the museum Oisin Park on the north shore of Kawaguchiko Lake- we get a glimpse of Mt. Fuji On the ride back to town, we can still see Mt. Fuji 28

Wine bar right up the street from our condo, we can easily walk to it and stumble back home. Not so good, in that our friend, Greg, passed away unexpectedly from complications due to a cardiac event. He was a musician, and played with several bands in his career. Very talented on keyboard, brass and vocals. Susan and I helped out with the funeral dinner. His funeral was unlike any I had ever been to. Many of his band members came and played some of his favorites as a tribute. At the end of the service, a video appeared on the screens of Greg playing and singing an arrangement that was perfect for the end. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place, and I guess he got to play at his own funeral. RIP Greg. You will be missed. Happy to read the good news about your Daughter. Sorry for you and Susan's loss. May he RIP🙏

Sunshine3601 Posted May 7 #120895 Share Posted May 7 @FromSea2ShiningSea Looks like an amazing trip. Rare A&L_Ont Posted May 7 #120896 Share Posted May 7 @Jimbo I saw an ice store/house like that in Arkansas. People going fishing would fill their coolers right from the slide. I guess if one was going to a party would do the same.

My husband did a lot of the slides and we both did the not so lazy river. We swam in several of the pools and checked out the beach areas. We didn't bring our snorkel stuff so we didn't snorkel. It was a lot of fun and I wouldn't mind staying for a few days. 8

Ken at the beach Posted May 7 #120900 Share Posted May 7 (edited) Slowly adjusting to the time change, I managed to sleep in until 5 this morning. Our rooms were open at 1 and our luggage was there waiting. A few more pics of the rooms. Welcome aboard bottle of champagne, water bottles and snacks. There was also a letter that listed the choices of a bottle of spirits for your room. A fully stocked coffee bar in one of the cupboards Below this was also a fridge stocked with water, coke and Italian soda. No problems with plugs, USB outlets or charging ports. Each person has their own nightstand complete with all of the above as well as the chargers that you do not need a physical connection. The main desk also had this as well as USB ports in the bathroom. The nightstand has a neat feature. There is a night in the bottom that is motion activated. Very handy when getting up in the middle of the night. Sarah's favorite feature was the make up table that has a Dyson hair dryer drawer. The heated floors and the rainfall shower in the bathroom were also nice touches Edited May 7 by Ourusualbeach
