.... and sometimes more than one copy, even 5, for example, to be filed and distributed to various divisions....

When a I got accepted to the University (1969), my father bought me a portable type writer with a huge novelty -- an automatic space bar....

1973 -- IBM's Selectric -- such a huge improvement !! I'm still keeping 2 balls 😁

I remember those!!  My first 'real' job was as a secretary at IBM.  I was one that was escorted by a security guard to a locked room and tested the prototype of what ended up being IBM's first word processor.  Holy moly I'm old! 😱

I hope @firefly333 manages to skirt it on her cruise.

By now, Nicholas is expected to make landfall very soon along the TX coast.  I'm assuming Galveston, Houston.  Hope all within its path stay safe and dry.  I'm sure by the time Firefly's ship is due back, all will be calm.

I remember typing my homework reports on  an Underwood manual typewriter.  My first job as secretary was when I was first introduced to an IBM Selectric typewriter.  I thought it couldn't get any more advanced than that!

Sir Paul McCartney recorded "will you still need me will you still feed me, when I'm 64" when he was approx. 24.  He's now 76.  How do you think HE feels?😲

I’m way behind again and can’t possibly comment on all the posts I’d like to. But I am caught up on reading them all.

You are way ahead of me!  I was on the same cruise as TreeSkier and didn't spend much time on the internet.  Now I'm home, I read 10-12 pages a night, and find that 14-20 have been posted the same day.  😱  I don't want to skip over, I might miss something really important!  Like pictures of Bell or cat pictures.

Yesterday, our day was to go into London,  first time since I went in May to get my dress for the wedding.  For one of Hubby's birthday pressies I bought an annual pass to the Historic Royal Palaces which includes the Tower of London.

We had a great day, elected to drive into the City as we're still not comfortable on public transport.

Unbeknown to us it was the day when the navy pay their annual fee of a barrel of wine to have the right to sail up the Thames, origins in the 14th century. We had a navy march and band to watch and very unusually the Royal Standard was flying because  Princess Anne was there for the ceremony.

20210913_142553.thumb.jpg.e0b042016f20376e88509755c88ba6fe.jpgSome pics from our day, we did a tour with a yeoman warden which was fascinating

Though it seemed fairly busy the warden said it was a fraction of the normal visitors numbers , so a great time to visit without the crowds

I think it's passed time that I post some pictures from the test cruise. I was just waiting for your excitement to build up. 😂😂😂  Seriously, I had trouble with my pictures. Not sure what happened, but my albums duplicated and the number of pictures were different in each one. I also hadn't put the Allure pictures into an album either and they were all a mess.

Thanks so much for posting these.  Your pictures are fantastic!  We board her in 5 days.  It's so great feeling that cruise excitement again.

After you move , it should be good.  Our local CBP is at Port of Palm Beach, and we had no problem with appointments.  You would hope you  have the same experience in Tampa (where ever they do it) after you move.

We applied for Global Entry a few days ago and I was surprised (amazed in fact) that we received conditional approval in one day.  Who knew our government could move so fast?  We'll need to drive a few hours to Sanford, or maybe Palm Beach for our interview, but there are dates available throughout October/November.  We'll schedule the interviews as part of a long weekend trip somewhere.

So in @Lionesssfootsteps of her beautiful official wedding photos I though I would post a couple of stills taken from the official wedding video of my sons wedding a few weeks ago. This first one was from the firework display 20210914_123327.thumb.jpg.e6b55ec95a637a17381d0e034c000f39.jpg

I love London.

Thanks, it will be great when London is buzzing with visitors again, we heard a couple of American accents but it seemed strange not having visitors from around the world there
