Max Scherzer doesn't have it, should have started deGrom. Oh Yeah , Buck is saving him for the Braves.( guess he means next year)

Earlier, I credited Buck with instilling a wining & accountable culture with the Mets and I still stand by that statement.  However, he does make some questionable postseason decisions. I think he overthinks things & ends up outsmarting himself.

He was saving DeGrom for an elimination game, which may be tomorrow. In theory, he was hoping for a 2 game sweep & save DeGrom for the next series so he could start Games 1 & 5 (if necessary).  Honestly, on paper, the combo of Scherzer & deGrom look good but Scherzer is 38 years old and DeGrom is coming off an injury-shorten season.

Both pitchers seemed to be fading down the stretch, not sure it would have made a difference who started first.  But the hitters have to start hitting or this will be a very short series.

Even when Buck was on those Baseball TV Shows prior to going back to managing, he always acted like he was the smartest baseball man on the planet earth on those shows.

He just may be out smarting himself on this one.

Another Home run, Padres just tacking on more runs....Way to go Buck!

Lets hope the Mets Fans don't start leaving the stadium like the Cardinal fans did earlier today.

and ANOTHER homerun........7-0 outta here Max

I don't think I have 60 friends, military or otherwise, past or present.  I do have a lot of acquaintances though.  I think one of them visited San Diego once. 😉

I need to get out more. lol

That's really sad

Scherzer gave up 7 runs tonight and was booed off the field by the Mets fans.

Kinda already covered this.

I was out getting a Covid Booster shot that was scheduled and only saw the first 8 innings of the game. Taped it and didn't know who won until seeing the replay.

To my surprise the Phillies pulled it out, then I saw your post and replied before reading further down the thread..... where you said "WOW"

@John&LaLa

I didn't write it but it was kind of inferred that what I meant was: "But than I realized it was you I was replying to - and you understand sarcasm -  so.....

Nah, I'm just really picky as to who I associate with 😉

And I was kinda kidding. See, sarcasm does not translate well into the written word.

Pretty good idea, when trailing by 7 runs and you hit a homerun you shouldn't be blowing kisses to the crowd when rounding the bases should you? Especially on your home field. I don't get it?

Baseball  25 years ago you do that the next batter up gets a fast ball in the ear hole.

Boy how baseball has changed.

All sports have changed that way. I saw an NFL defensive back interviewed about how he felt about the WR who scored on him and then celebrated right in front of him. Didn’t bother him at all. Everyone celebrates when they do something good. He celebrates when he gets an interception. It’s nothing personal, just the “look at me” mentality of pro athletes now. Used to bother me but good for them. Celebrate however you want…especially if you’re on a team that I like.

That's why the Dodger's are the Dodger's, you don't see them show anyone up. They always do everything in the right way. I admire that team on how they do things.........can't say that about most of the other teams.

Eagle Beach is where we are going.   Did you enjoy it?  We plan to take the bus.

One week to go and we still haven't figured out what to do in Curacao.   How did you get to Mambo Beach.   How did you like it.

I've been to Eagle Beach a few times... it's just a beach day for me, no snorkeling.  It is a beautiful beach.... stretches both directions as far as the eye can see. The waves are a bit stronger here, depending on the weather.

I've thought about taking the bus, but a cab is only $15, and I usually have at least one other person to split the cost with, so it's more convenient (and easier on my bad knees) to just take a taxi instead of walking into town for the bus.

Mambo Beach is nice.  There are rocks all across the outer edge so the waves are really mild to non-existent.  There are several beach clubs along the length of the beach -- rent a chair, get food/drink, etc.  There are a lot of rocks/coral as you're entering the water, so you might want to bring water shoes, but once you're in past your knees, it's sandy.  There is decent snorkeling along the rocks, and you can go all the way to the left and go outside the rocks if you want more reef action for snorkeling.  And there are all kinds of stores and restaurants on two different levels.

To get to the taxi stand, you have to turn right at the end of the pier, past all the buses for Royal excursions, and walk through/past the area where they're selling tours and continue on until you see a small roof/tent/shelter on the left.  I think it says "TAXI" on it, or there's a sign right next to it that says "TAXI".  They wait until they have a handful of people who want to go to Mambo Beach, and then it's $8pp each direction.

Where they drop you off at the beach is where you get a taxi to come back, too -- same deal, they wait until they have at least 4-5 people before they make the trip.  One time there were three of us, and they offered to take us right then for $25 instead of $8pp... it was worth it to me to pay the extra dollar and not have to wait around at that point.

Here's a little map of the Curacao port.  Every time I've been there, there has been a Carnival ship at the pier in front of the Tour Sales, so I'm assuming Allure will dock where Explorer did.

So, Brillohead mentioned Klein Bonaire.

My Klein Bonaire story on a Friday night.

1996 September, we are staying at the Plaza resort, sort of on the south side of town.  I think it had a casino.  That is where I learned people from Miami and the USVI took their yachts to spend hurricane season there because it is south of the typical hurricane zone.

We had gotten certified the fall prior to open water diving, so the husbands and the wives went to this resort for 8 days and 7 nights.  The men did a lot of diving and the women a lot of shopping (what little there was), and we all did a lot of eating and drinking.

About mid week we did a night dive off the west side of Klein Bonaire.  The dive boat dropped a light on a cable down below the boat, for us to figure out how to get back.  So, Shelby and I went diving along the reef, we found a couple of octopus.  Lots of pretty things, as our tanks got down to about half, we looked for the light and started swimming back towards it.  It is very disorienting at night and this was our first night dive.  We saw pretty fish and stuff on the reef, when I realized as I was at a third of a tank I looked ahead for the light, it was not there, I looked to the left and found it… we were 45 degrees off course.  So, knowing we only had about 1/6 of a tank left to get to the boat, we quit looking at the reef, alas there were some pretty fish,  and we looked at them.  Now down to 1/6th of a tank I looked again for the light and it was way off to the right.  We pumped air into our BCs and did a safety stop and then swam on the surface back to the boat with almost no air left in our tanks.

Not good.

Dinner on an early Friday evening on our balcony. We had breakfast about 8:00am this morning. Went shopping and got back to the hotel about 4:00 and decided to eat early since we were starving. We always like to go to the commissary for their sushi at least once or twice when we are here. I'm not much of a raw fish type person so we have a variety of things to choose from. Also decided to try the Rum Chata Limon. It's good, but definitely doesn't go with sushi which I didn't think it would.
