Thank you everyone for your information, it is so helpful.  I think we will cab it from and to the airport.  I will have the uber app set up on my phone.  The day in Boston we will uber to a place in Boston to explore for the day (need to verify where with the hubs).  We can uber back when we are done to the hotel and then go check out the restaurants and brewery.  I think we will be able to walk to the ship the next morning.  Big fun.

If you want to bring your one bottle of wine each onto the ship, there are two places that sell wine in the Seaport. Massachusetts is weird and most stores can’t sell wine/spirits. You have to go to a liquor store (package store) or wine store. We also have weird blue laws that prohibit selling before a certain hour on a Sunday, so depending on what day you are sailing, keep that in mind. 🙂

That is weird.  We don't really drink wine.  Once in awhile my husband might but not enough to bring bottles with us.  We even have trouble using all our free vouchers and end up getting coffees.  I will be checking out the yarn store however.  :classic_biggrin:

We don't use all of our vouchers either, so I too use one for my morning mocha. 😄 We have also taken to bringing a few unopened beers back to our cabin at the end of the day for DH.  I know some people will bring beer home, but that just isn't worth it to us.

@Sea Dog congratulations.  Will they be giving you real drinks, or something synthetic?  If real, it might be time for several takes. From a favorite quote in the Maltese Falcon..

My guess something synthetic like juice to replicate wine or non fizzed soda or tea to represent hard liquor. The director would have a mess on his hands if we were really drinking.😀

GOOD NEWS!

IMG_4739.jpeg.d112c475d5c0cea75e16317bdd775009.jpeg

I got contacted to be an extra in the new Hallmark Christmas movie shooting here in KC called “Holiday Touchdown, a Chiefs Love Story.”

IMG_4741.thumb.jpeg.85fed9a6c5cfe675aa7dfe82a1261af9.jpeg

They have been shooting around Independence, MO square.

Appropriately I will be in a “cocktail party” scene dressed up in a sport coat no tie. My shoot time is tomorrow from 2pm till 2am and I get paid a whopping $140 per day. There is a possibility I could be in more scenes as they asked if I could be available for next week as well. We will see.

Needless to say I am excited as I know over a thousand people applied. Even if I make the edited cut all you might see is the back of my head but I don’t care. As a life long Christmas freak and Hallmark Christmas movie fan I will be in heaven. I had to sign a NDA so I don’t know how much additional info I can post and I doubt they will let me take any pictures. Hopefully more details later.

Congratulations Greg, I had a good feeling you’d be chosen.  Now I can say I know an Emmy winner AND a movie star 😉!

@dani negreanu I’m so glad you were able to enjoy a night out with your friends, loved seeing the smile in your face.

As far as Uber/Lyft, I have the Uber app on my phone and Andy has Lyft on his.  When we’re looking for a ride, we can easily compare pricing and wait time/availability for each.  We find it very easy to use and there are often promotions.  Currently I earn 5x points on my Chase Sapphire card for Lyft and recently Uber was running a 20% off deal.

It may be my backside which might be prettier than my front side.😀 I am not expecting too much. I think it will be fun just to participate.

Okay my cruising friends, particularly those of you who have done a Norwegian Fjords cruise, I’m looking for some input.  We are considering planning one for next spring and I want to get the most bang for my buck, scenery wise.  Celebrity Apex has three sailings in May, all with different port stops. These are the itineraries for each, two are 7 night cruises and one is an 8 nighter.  They all have two sea days at different points.

5/3 - Haugesund, Olden, Flam, Bergen

5/10 - Nordfjord, Flam, Geiranger, Brussels Belgium (8 nts)

5/17 - Brussels, Olden, Geiranger, Alesund, Stavanger

Celebrity Eclipse has a 12 night which also includes the Arctic Circle but it departs on June 5th.  This would mean missing my new grandson Tyler’s first birthday, so that’s a no go for us.

I feel like Geiranger is the ‘not to be missed’ port for seeing fjords and more nights are always better, so I’m leaning towards the May 17th itinerary.

Thoughts??

I haven’t been to that area but Ken just returned from there I believe on a Royal ship. He might be able to help.

This will be my first choice, since it includes the first two.

The 5/17

1. Geiranger

2. Flam

3. Alesund

What about this one?

7 Days Scandinavia & Fjords

Celebrity Cruises • Celebrity Apex
Southampton, Zeebrugge, Flaam, Geiranger, Bergen, Southampton
1 departure dates: Jun 28 2025

This one will give you the most of your "bang" ---

14 Days Scandinavia & Fjords

Celebrity Cruises • Celebrity Apex
Southampton, Stavanger, Olden, Molde, Trondheim, Arctic Circle, Honningsvag, Tromso, Arctic Circle, Geiranger, Flaam, Rotterdam, Southampton

I’m not sure if you’re saying the 5/10 or 5/17 would be your first choice? With Geiranger and Flam being the top two ports?
I somehow missed the 6/28 itinerary. That one might also be doable.  The August 14 nighter is unfortunately out for us as we have our family trip that same month.

I've meant the 5/10 (Geiranger + Flam), sorry.

If possible, I'd go with the 6/28 (Bergen is also a beautiful town, and from Zeebrugge you can travel to Bruges and taste some amazing Belgian chocolate, also a very nice and scenic place), since "me thinks" May is way to early for the fjords.

You will definitely be able to get a taxi at the airport from the taxi line, and at your hotel (likely waiting by the entrance).  You will also almost certainly be able to hail a taxi if you're somewhere that has several taxis passing by.  It looks like Boston taxis use the same Curb app that NYC taxis use.  You might want to load the Curb app on your phone also in case you need it for some reason.  We were in a place in NYC that didn't have any taxis and the Uber that we requested had some sort of problem.  We cancelled the Uber and used Curb to get a taxi to come to us.

Thanks my friend! Somehow I don’t think they care about my Emmy’s. The number one rule to being an extra is keep quiet and do exactly what you are told. Number two rule which I totally understand is no pictures or video taken what so ever.

@Sea Dog

Congratulations on starting the road to stardom. Many famous actors have started as background extras. As both Christmas & Kansas City's #1 fan, you're natural and soon the producers will recognize you have so much more to offer & no doubt you'll be elevated to a higher status.  I predict next year at this time, filming will begin on Hallmarks newest movie: "SeaDogs Ode to Christmas" and the summer time sequel "Tales from the Tiki Bar".

Make sure to give this thread a shout out during you Emmy award acceptance speech.

By the time it will air I will have the tiki patio packed up for the winter. I store everything to keep the elements off it during winter.

Hallmark movies premier as early as mid-October, correct?  Don't underestimate a hearty New Englander like @Ocean Boy. No doubt he'll be wearing "flip flops until the first snow drops." as the saying goes. 🙂

Tiki viewing party is still a possibility.

Freedom, 6 night out of FLL. We have a 2BDR GS and a GS was double last time we looked.  Booking early helps out and usually does.

We’re March 23 on Wonder.
Yup

Was “free” casino cruise in GS. But upgraded to CLS.

Eager to enjoy   suite deck by CLS.

Be safe.

They start in October. I think the second or third week. I DVR them and don’t watch them till the day after Halloween because I love that holiday too.

I guess if I wanted to be an actor I should have started a long time ago. That being said I was the lead in my 6th grade play and as a drummer and performer all my life I can be a ham. Hopefully I won’t be nervous. How hard will it be to pretend I’m having a conversation with someone in the background or walk behind someone.😆
