What will it take for you to cruise in the 1st 4 months after NCL starts sailing again?

Recommended Posts

for me, it's if i still have 'free' cruises in my acct from the casino.

they will have to entice me to sail in the 1st 4 months after re-open.

and 'free' works for me.

i had 3 free cruises in my acct. 1 from land casino and 2 from CAS.

all of which must book by end of March, and must sail by with various dates between April and Sept.

if they're not going to extend those, then i'll just wait.

There are lots of other stuff for me to spend my discretionary $ on.

The price will have to be right.  I'm not going to pay more than we would have prior to Covid-19 to go to the same places I've already been.

Additionally, I think I would need to know what protocols are in place to circumvent/lessen the transmission of contagions on board.  They're going to have quite a PR campaign on their hands.  I think some of their advertising will need to take on a more serious tone to highlight some changes...not just shots of water slides and go carts.

Finally, let's move the final payment date back to 60 days...that way I can get a better feel for what cruising is like immediately following this crisis from traveler reviews.  Post Covid-19 reviews are going to be make or break for not just NCL but all the lines.

Lol for me it will be the next 18-24 months. Their is no way I'm going back on a ship until they have a vaccine. I had the virus and it kicked my ass,  I don't want to go thru that again

Wow!  So glad you recovered.  Do you mind sharing a little?

How long were you sick?

Were you treated at home or hospitalized?

There was discussion about the virus being like chicken pox, once you have it, you are immune.  This may just be wishful thinking on the part of the researchers.  Was that mentioned to you as you recovered?

What would it take?

Pirates kidnapping me and taking me to a cruise ship.

An act of Congress.

Partial involuntary lobotomy.

Free all you can eat lobster tail night at Cagneys.

Disclaimer:  Not necessarily in that order.

I was never confirmed however two of my doctors are almost positive I had it. I did test Negative for the "Flu" this was early February before testing was done.

I had been in contact with two people who were in China the last two weeks of February. I saw them 3 days after they got back and I was sick along with them a few days later. One of them was tested positive by a local hospital very early on. Any way I had a fever of 101-103 for 6 days, I'm 57 and have never felt so bad, loss of smell and taste for 6-7 days which was very strange. A few days after I started feeling sick I learned 8 others at my company had the same thing, two people in their 40's were in the hospital for 3-4 days. It was a good 4 weeks before I felt back to normal, it was almost like I had mono.

You probably fell in that 80% that live to tell about it.  I also believe there were scattered cases before the hello moment came about.  My son and i went to a huge hospital in New Orleans early January. He came down sick, me following him (after he coughed and coughed in my car) he is convinced it was the coved-19 but mild case.it was like nothing either of us has had before.

you being around people from china was sorta the dead give away.

Glad to see some reasonable, thoughtful responses. With 86 cruises under my belt and 5 cruises scheduled this year (2 in June that I'm waiting for them to be canceled, a family cruise on the Getaway in July from Rome!!!, Celebrity Apex in Nov) I'm definitely a Cruise vacation fanatic, but not at the expense of my health.

Some of the more extreme comments about sailing right away ASAP border on a dangerous addiction like to drugs and alcohol.

Cruises are not a necessity no matter what anybody says. Even though a person might not be afraid of catching the disease what about all the potential problems that can arise and cause you to de denied disembarkation? As I'm typing this we still have ships that are disembarking passengers with the virus. The Coral Princess is docked this morning in Miami with 7 people with the virus.

The time will definitely come when we can all sail safely and be able to have an enjoyable cruise experience, but that is DEFINITELY NOT next month.

Time off and a good deal.  We have an Alaska cruise booked for July 13th, hoping Canada and Seattle are up and running by then.

1. Close to home itineraries,

2. Crazy low prices

3. CDC and WHO advisories relaxed in US and in each port of call

4. Covid vaccine found or elimination of new cases in US and expected ports of call.

5. Last minute availability

6. Government lifting Do Not Travel ban.

Gonna take a lot.

I will cruise again when the destination I want to go to will be available.  I do not think that it will be up to NCL or any cruise line on when they want to cruise.  It will be all up to the countries that will accept cruise ships.  Better question would be which country will be the first to accept cruise ships again.✌️

I think you can take your pick of pretty much any small Caribbean country whose economies pretty much will be non-existent due to the lack of cruise ships and tourism.  When cruise ships fire up the engines the welcome mat will be put out.

Simple answer:
When the all clear sign has been given.

Cruising cannot begin again until this is snuffed out. Otherwise, this madness will start all over again.  So many on this board keep putting the cart before the horse thinking short term.  This virus is extremely contagious.   If cruises start again without a vaccine or this being snuffed out, there are not enough resources left to assist quarantined passengers stranded on ships.  The last dead, infected, and stranded passengers were just rescued yesterday.  If cruising started before this is snuffed out it would only take a short time for another outbreak which would be a death nail to the cruising industry.

Is it smart to move back into a house that is still on fire?

Possible scenarios that could speed up cruising again:
A vaccine or a rapid test that potential passengers could be given prior to boarding

I had no clue there were. So many ships out there still floating around.  I only heard about the 2 holland America ships and the coral princess.  Ran across a big article on CNN (i am not a CNN fan)but it really woke me up.  I think a lot of this is being kept quiet. Little things like passengers de barking off RC ship march 14th, crew aboard is sick. What are the chances passengers were sick when they got off.  Anyway gonna have to have better plans in place to ever be safe again.

we got off march 15 in New Orleans.  Ny husband says daily how lucky we are to be home. I agree.
