We had two cruises cancelled.

First cruise was on Carnival -  I booked two cabins, (us, 2 grandkids and son/daughter in law) I booked the cabins for 3 people each, so the cost was the same for both cabins.  In Sept 2019 paid $450.00 deposit for each cabin.  In January 2020 paid the balance due on each cabin for $1093.00.  Carnival cancelled the cruise on 03-14 and we went through our travel agency to ask for full refund $3,086.   April 20, 2020 I put in a dispute with the credit card company, they immediately gave us a conditional credit.  Today my credit card says that one of the $450.00 charges and one of the $1093.00 charges has been settled in our favor.  I am confident that the other charges will be resolved by tomorrow or first of next week.

the other cruise cancelled on Princess.  nothing yet back on that, but disputed the charges on the credit card also.

update

checked my credit card this morning and the other disputed charge of $1093.00 has been settled in my favor.  I am now waiting for the deposit amount of $450.00 to be cleared.  Strange they didn't approve both at the same time, but one day at a time.

still nothing for our Princess cruise.

I received my credit card refund last week for a cruise that was set to sail in May. The credit card refund took only a few weeks but I still have a portion of my cruise that was paid for by a gift card.

Does anyone have any experience with getting the gift card back? How long does it take and how do I get it?

Thanks!

My family and I had 4 cabins on the Radiance for the May 21st, 2020 sailing totaling over $12k.  We immediately requested a refund once CCL sent out the cancellation letter.  3 of the 4 cabins are for Platinum cruisers (just to let you know that we obviously do not get any preferential treatment) and as of a couple weeks ago, we still hadn't received any refunds and then getting a response from a CCL PVP saying it could take much longer than 90 days.  I was fed up so went the other route and filed a dispute with my credit card company.  Annoyed because we paid under the CCL monthly payment plan so we had to file the dispute on EVERY transaction.  It's ridiculous to be waiting this long for CCL to process refunds.  They charged the funds against our credit cards monthly, like clockwork, without any issue so it doesn't make sense to me that they cannot refund us in a more timely basis.

As I understand it that monthly payment plan is controlled by a third party, which adds another layer to this whole thing.

UGH... All I know is my credit card statement says the payment was made to Carnival Cruise Lines from my bank so if CCL is using a thrid party company, you're right, another layer of nonsense.  I'll leave it to my bank to get the money back now.  I've had enough of CCL and their excuses for not refunding us in a more timely manner.

I canceled a B2B2B for Jan/Feb 2021 because due to our age we didn't feel comfortable sailing in case a 2nd wave of Covid appears.  I canceled on Wed. 6/10 and received new Carnival Gift Cards on Fri., June 12th.  Was really amazed because of reading about people waiting forever for their refunds.

My wife and I were to sail on May 16th, on the Legend, out of New York.  Carnival cancelled on April 1st.  Applied for refund April 2nd.  I received an email from Carnival on June 2nd stating I will receive full refund.  On June 5th full and accurate refund posted on my credit card.  Refund was dated June 2nd.  I did not call or email.  I was patient with them, but that is difficult for me.  Hang in there people.  Money is coming.

For our Carnival Alaska cruise in August, just got our cruise refund. But DID NOT get our Carnival excursion refund!

See this is something I don't understand how is someone whose cruise was in August getting a refund before someone whose cruise was in May. Our group is still waiting, 5 of the 11 cabins cancelled on March 17 and I still have a couple of people who don't have their refunds from that cancellation which is 90 days today so I have called the agent to check it out since Carnival will not answer any questions directly for me. The other 6 cabins got cancelled on April 1 and still no money. I think if you have a group the refunds should come to the entire group at the same time because we all paid our deposits and final payments together. I have been patient but people are calling me because I am the group leader and most of the money got paid out of my account.

BEWARE!  People are falling through the cracks.  On April 2nd I filled out and sent in the form to receive a 100% refund on my cancelled 5/3 cruise.  Eight days later I received a refund for the insurance only.  Then I patiently waited a total of 75 days until curiosity overcame me.  Yesterday I called Carnival and talked to a very polite lady who informed me that she saw no evidence on her computer screen that a refund was requested. She then went ahead and attempted to initiate the refund, but her system would not allow it without a supervisor override.  The supervisor balked at refunding me anything because "I had waited so long".  After making her aware of the 4/9 insurance refund, she saw that I had responded quickly and granted me the 100% refund.

My cruise has immediately vanished from my account, but she could not give me any idea as to when the refund will hit my credit card.

The moral to this story =  If you're waiting, don't be afraid to call and inquire.

I had to do the SAME thing. I filled out the cancellation form that was emailed to me, requesting a 100% refund. I took screenshots of everything to cover myself down the road if needed. Never heard anything back. I was curious too, so I called Carnival on May 27th when I'd noticed my cruise was still showing in my Cruise Manager despite Carnival confirming in the original email that the itinerary had been cancelled for that ship. I spoke to a nice representative, but he did not see anywhere where I had requested a refund, could not find in the system where the 'form' would be to look up. I had him cancel the cruise right then and there. He confirmed that I would be receiving a 100% refund in 90 days or less from THAT date, May 27th (so I'd wasted a good month waiting for nothing). Still nothing on this end, but I do see the cruise is finally removed from my Cruise Manager. PLEASE people - if you filled out the form on April 1st, I'd strongly recommend calling to confirm your cancellation and request your refund (or FCC, whichever you took). Otherwise the time you've been waiting so far might be for nothing!

I cancelled an October 2021 cruise on 4/14 and I'm still waiting for my deposit to be refunded. I called Carnival on Friday and they told me they couldn't give me information, my travel agent had to call. Since my travel agent (Costco) is saying the cruise lines are taking up to 90 days to refund, I can't do anything with them until the 90 day mark. Thinking about putting it in the CC company's hands with a dispute.

Still waiting for Gift Card refund. Cruise was 3/15, cancelled on 3/13. Received all credit card refunds between May 12 and May 16th, but nothing for the Gift Cards. Called two weeks ago, and was told to call back after 90 days - called last week and they see the cancellation, but no GC issued. They put in a "search" order to see what happened to the request for GC. I'll wait another week before calling...again.

I have an October cruise (fingers crossed but not too hopeful at this point) with final payment in July - I was planning on using the GC for final payment, since I have no other use for them.

I am still waiting on my Cheers refunds from the first round of cancellations (cruise was supposed to sail 3/15 and we were cancelled 3/14). I have called multiple times - 1st time the rep told me I would have it last Thursday, waited until then and of course nothing. Called Friday and rep said he had to escalate and I would get a call by today, waited until then and of course nothing. I have no idea what to do, this has made my husband super upset and now he wants me to just cancel all 3 of my upcoming cruises and sell our stock in CCL. Very disappointed in the way they are handling this. I waited the 90 days and was very patient.

Spoke with my Travel Agent for a review of refund for my B2B Transatlantic and Norway cruise..

she put me on hold while she spoke to Carnival, seams they had sent a large lot of Gift card to

another Agent.  That agent had contacted her and she confirmed the booking# and amount reflected

my booking.  so credit card refund are out there. Contact your Travel Agent if this might effect you.

Another good reason to use a travel agent.

I feel your pain. My 10 April sailing was cancelled by Carnival on 20 March. I requested a refund 21 March. I called Carnival on 14 May to check the status, and was told it hadn't been processed, but he'd do it while I waited on the phone. Still waiting. It's a bit frustrating to see people with May sailings getting refunded. At this rate, based on when he processed it and what I'm seeing other people comment as to their process dates vs actual refund dates, I'm not getting a refund for at least another month. Ugh.

Finally! Saw at least my $200 deposit refunded to my AmEx today. Now waiting on the remainder of final payment.

Booked - 14 Nov 2019

Sailing date - 10 April 2020

Cancelled Carnival excursions - 18 March 2020

Carnival cancelled cruise - 20 March 2020

Requested refund - 21 March 2020

Carnival shore excursions refunded - 7 May 2020

Called Carnival to confirm refund request had been received - casino rep told me he processed refund request while I was on phone - 14 May 2020

Partial refund received - 25 June 2020
